Scholarship Program Policy and Procedures Rationale The All Saints Grammar Scholarship program aims to encourage and recognise students in their pursuit of excellence. The Scholarship Program at All Saints Grammar is intended to provide students with the financial support to further their education as well as reward achievement and effort. Those students who receive scholarships will have exemplary character and will share the values of our school community. These students will exhibit qualities such as integrity, leadership, initiative, care and compassion for others, and personal responsibility. The Scholarships entitle the holder to the remission of tuition fees only, dependent on the scholarship. Scholarships do not cover textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees, or individual subject fees. All Scholarships commencing in Year 7 will continue to Year 10. Scholarships commencing in Year 11 will continue into Year 12. Scholarships will be reviewed annually. Scholarship Categories:- The School Board of All Saints Grammar may offer a number of scholarships each year to:- A student who achieves the award of Year 6 Dux A student who achieves high/excellent performance in the ACER CSTP (Cooperative Scholarship Testing Program) Examination in Year 6 for entry into Year 7 and Year 10 for entry into Year 11 A student who is offered a placement in a NSW Selective School A student who displays a Special Talent Each scholarship is awarded in the first instance for secondary schooling at All Saints Grammar, subject to:- Exemplary conduct Consistently high academic performance (Year 7 10 core subject areas and Year 11 & 12 all subjects) Consistent satisfactory academic performance in Modern Greek and Orthodoxy Excellent work ethic as demonstrated in school reports and portfolios Actively participating in sport and co-curricular activities Actively being involved at school functions and events Students considered for Scholarship offers will be asked to attend an interview with the Head of School. Definitions Year 6 All Saints Grammar Primary Dux (existing students only) Existing students who achieve the highest academic performance at the completion of Year 6 at the Primary Campus may qualify for the remission of tuition fees (whole or part*), commencing Year 7 at All Saints Grammar Secondary Campus the following year. Academic Scholarship Entitles a student who achieves high/excellent performance in the ACER CSTP (Cooperative Scholarship Testing Program) to the remission of tuition fees (whole or part*). Although academic excellence is of course paramount in the awarding of a scholarship, no scholarship is ever awarded on academic excellence alone. Selective Schools Scholarship (existing students only) Existing students that have applied for, and have participated in the NSW Selective Schools Examinations, and receive an offer for the following academic year at a Selective School, but who wish to stay at All Saints Grammar, may, upon expression of interest to stay, qualify to the remission of tuition fees (whole or part*). The student needs to apply for this Scholarship by submitting the Application Form, including presenting the Letter of Offer from the NSW Selective Schools' Committee to the Head of School. Special Talent Scholarship Entitles the student to the remission of tuition fees (whole or part*) for a student of outstanding aptitude in a specific area. Applicants must support their application with a reference from an accredited organisation or a recognised club at a State, National or International level in their area of talent. The scholarship selection process is competitive and not all applicants who meet the basic eligibility criteria are necessarily awarded a scholarship. Awarding this scholarship is subject to the discretion of the Head of School. Duration of Scholarships Scholarships awarded in Year 7 will continue until the completion of Year 10. Scholarships awarded in Year 11 will continue until the completion of Year 12. All scholarships will be reviewed annually. Students must maintain the results expected of a scholarship recipient. Any scholarship recipient whose review has been unsatisfactory may have their scholarship withdrawn. Parents will receive written correspondence throughout the process of reviewing. Conditions of Scholarship Families with overdue fees/levies (current and previous) will be ineligible to receive a scholarship. Families with unpaid fees or levies in the current year may have the scholarship withdrawn unless unpaid fees are paid by the end of the relevant Term. A review of fees and levies will be conducted every Term. If a family has any outstanding fees/levies prior to the above, they must be on an active payment plan to reduce any outstanding amounts. Any default will result in cancellation of the scholarship for the current year. Page 3
Lodgement of Application Notice of scholarships being offered will be advertised on an annual basis through various publications including the School newsletter and on the School website. All students must lodge a Scholarship application form. External students, along with the Scholarship application, must also lodge an Application for Enrolment form and pay an application fee. Disclaimer All Scholarships are granted or withdrawn at the discretion of the Head of School. All Saints Grammar reserves the right to make changes to this policy at the school s sole discretion. * Tuition fees only and excludes other levies and fees payable by all students such as application fees, enrolment fees, subject levies, locker levy, sport levy, information technology levy, excursions, camps, uniform and text books. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION Those students who receive scholarships will have exemplary character and will share the values of our school community. These students will exhibit qualities such as integrity, leadership, initiative, care and compassion for others, and personal responsibility.
