It also supports the creation of a longitudinal record as required by the National Child Health Data Set. SYSTEM C CarePlus Child Health 3

Why choose CarePlus Child Health... Security CarePlus Child Health is fully secure, has a full audit facility and complies with the Securing Excellence in Child Health Information Services IT operating model. System managers have full control over role-based access controls and menus, which means that only the functions and data each user needs to access are made available. The solution has locally-controlled reference files so national and local coding schemes can be adopted and amended in a timely manner. The audit facility allows managers to monitor activity that supports the clinical and information governance agenda and identify potential training needs. CarePlus Child Health empowers organisations to rationalise their data so that it becomes clinically meaningful and promotes better outcomes for children. Birth notification/registration Birth notification information is received directly from the Spine in real time. An HL7 link is available for passing demographic details from maternity and electronic patient record systems. Family groups can be linked together to enable records to be updated easily, e.g. when moving people into or out of the area. CarePlus Child Health has the ability to search related parties. With automatic post-coding of addresses, together with comprehensive merge facilities to avoid duplicate records, CarePlus Child Health ensures data quality standards are fully met ensuring confidence in the information. Bloodspot screening CarePlus Child Health supports electronic messaging between screening laboratories and the appropriate child health department, allowing for electronic transfer of bloodspot results. The bloodspot screening solution fully supports the national result and status codes as recommended by the UK Newborn Screening Committee, enabling earlier treatment and preventing life-long disability. School health CarePlus Child Health can receive school lists electronically from the Local Education Authority to update children s school details. A block transfer option is also available for children being moved from one school to another. The system can also capture immunisations, assessments, interviews, audio visual and medical examinations undertaken within schools. Examinations and assessments are fully user-definable so content and outcomes meet national and an organisation s specific requirements, ensuring that CarePlus Child Health is efficient, effective and fit for purpose. 4 SYSTEM C Medway CarePlus Maternity Child Health

How CarePlus Child Health meets your needs... Scheduling Flexible, user-definable scheduling options allow organisations to meet the needs of GP practices and health clinics for immunisations, vaccinations and examinations. The module is fully integrated with the pre-school and school modules. Spreadsheets can be uploaded after validation, automatically populating the child s record with the outcomes. Documentation can be produced on pre-printed paper or pre-designed stationery with results entered using the batch facility or on an individual basis. Safeguarding CarePlus Child Health has comprehensive Safeguarding and Looked After functionality designed to meet the needs of the teams responsible for vulnerable children. Information held includes: Client conference details, with the ability to link to Microsoft Word for letter production Cause for concern, with the facility to record agencies involved with the child Court details, including the recording of workers and other children involved CarePlus supports the following interfaces: PDS (Demographics and Birth Notifications) Maternity (data-rich alternative to Spine Birth Notifications) Screening Laboratory Bloodspots School List Upload ITK (Hearing, NIPE and bloodspots) Immunisations (ASCII file or direct from GP Practice system) Activities (Developmental Checks) Outbound activity information to the 0-19 Services Immunisation Data from GP Practice systems School Measurement (Heights & Weights) Demographics (HL7) CarePlus to CarePlus Neonatal Hearing A&E Attendances Medical Outcomes Consents Record Tracking (paper records) Hospital Admissions Related Parties Death Details Reporting CarePlus Child Health currently supports over 100 standard reports. Reports can integrate with Microsoft Word, enabling a Word template to be populated with patient data. The system has an ODBC layer, which allows users to produce their own ad-hoc reports using tools such as Microsoft Excel & Access and third-party report writers such as Crystal Reports, Business Objects or any ODBCcompliant report writer. Interoperability CarePlus has a wide range of interfaces enabling data to be exchanged with third parties such as GP practices, hospital departmental systems (e.g. A&E), eredbook and the national screening store. A generic upload facility allows data from external files such as vaccine spreadsheets to be imported and to automatically populate the child s record. Graphical assessments CarePlus Child Health has a comprehensive and flexible assessment module, enabling users to build and develop free text and graphical scored assessments. These are valuable tools for tracking progress and analysing trends. A history of each element can be viewed over time allowing clinicians to observe a child s progress. Referrals As part of the core solution, CarePlus Child Health automatically refers all births to a health visitor. The system can also be used to refer a child to specialist services as well as manage the child s transition of care. SYSTEM GRAPHNET C CarePlus Child CareCentric Health 5

Compliance Messaging CarePlus Child Health includes HL7 Version 3 messaging which is being developed to NHS Digital standards as they become defined. PDS/Spine Compliance PDS v3 compliant (including receipt of Birth Notifications via the Spine). CarePlus has full roll-out approval from NHS Digital. ITK compliance CarePlus is NHS Digital compliant for the Child Health Data Sharing and Child Screening ITK messages. Security CarePlus Child Health security controls integration with NHS Digital security standards and supports single sign-on using smartcard technology. Future developments System C is fully committed to the continued development of CarePlus Child Health and to ensuring that the software allows all organisations delivering services to children to provide integrated services. CarePlus is being developed to adopt SNOMED CT coding. A mobile solution for CarePlus is under development which will enable a wide range of mobile devices to be used to access and update CarePlus and will support disconnected working. CarePlus across regional footprints System C s CarePlus software has been selected as the core IT solution for child health services across multiple large geographical areas. A scaled-up Child Health IT solution for the whole of the West Midlands Birmingham Community Healthcare Trust (BCHC) won the contract to provide the Child Health Service in the West Midlands and chose CarePlus to provide a single area-wide database which will be accessible over N3 to all stakeholders. The system has been configured to support three geographically located hubs. This also includes the migration of data from 13 separate legacy IT solutions and will holds the records of some 2.9 million children. South Central Region In 2017 System C deployed a large scale CHIS Deployment covering Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) and Swindon, combining existing services into a single service operated by South Central and West CSU. The new service covers 14 CCGs, encompassing five local authorities and six unitary authorities with 0-19 year old populations approaching 800,000. System C is developing an interface between CarePlus and the Liquidlogic Children s system used by Local Authorities. This bi-directional interface will enable Health and Social Care teams to share key data for vulnerable children. 6 6 GRAPHNET SYSTEM C CarePlus CareCentric Child Health

London In November 2016 Health Intelligence, North East London Foundation Trust and Your Healthcare won the contract to provide the Child Health Service for the whole of London across four Hubs. The three providers all elected to use CarePlus as the CHIS system and agreed to deploy a single instance for the whole of London. The service and the system went live on the 1st April 2017, with all of the 0-6 year-old children s data migrated from 18 existing CHIS services. A second data migration phase will see the 7-19 year-old children s data migrated to CarePlus. At the same time, System C deployed the London platform using the CareCentric portal, which is updated in realtime from CarePlus. The London platform provides access for HCPs in London to the consolidated Child Health data. London has gone live with a capital-wide child health information service and platform, a comprehensive e-record of a child s public health records. The new service replaces 18 different child health records departments using 18 separate IT solutions. The system ensures that health professionals know where every child in London is and how healthy they are. The first phase was delivered in just four months, including all interfaces and data migration of records from across London We are already seeing some very real safety and efficiency benefits from the new system. The automated uploads of information and direct interoperability with key systems, for example, massively reduces manual interventions and duplicate processes, and this is inevitably going to cut the potential for error. Marjan Daneshpour, Head of Information and the Child Health Foundation Team Lead for the SW London hub Greater Manchester In March 2016, System C was selected to deploy CarePlus to Bolton, Tameside & Glossop and Stockport in the Manchester area. It was agreed to combine these new sites with the existing CarePlus deployment in Central Manchester. Stockport and Tameside were migrated off their legacy LSP provided system and went live on CarePlus ahead of deadline, prior to Bolton joining the consortium in October 2016. Central Manchester Foundation Trust have been using CarePlus to support child health in North, South and Central Manchester since 2009 and we are very pleased with both the product and the service. We see many advantages to larger footprint child health systems and we would be delighted for other communities to share our service. Pauline Jarvis - Head of Service for Child Health/Admin Cluster Lead, Central Manchester Virgin Care, Devon Can I just say how impressed I am with your support team they patiently attend to all our calls and resolve the issues through their extensive knowledge of the system including our new screens. Pauline Elliott, CarePlus project team/business systems analyst The Avon, Gloucestershire & Wiltshire Child Health Consortium Introducing this new computer system across the region means improved information for clinicians and professionals dealing with children, shared records for children in the different health communities and a base to develop further in the future ensuring we have the information we need on our children to deliver what they require.
