All applications and information are available in the Longview High School Counseling Department. LHS Viewette Scholarship To be considered for one of the LHS Viewette Scholarships, an applicant must adhere to the following guidelines: The applicant must be a graduating senior and a LHS Viewette. The applicant must enroll in and maintain a minimum course load of 12 semester hours during either the fall/spring semester for the first year of college. The Scholarship Committee will need confirmation of enrollment. The applicant must submit a scholarship application, accompanied by the following attachments, to receive consideration for the scholarship: an official high school transcript and two letters of recommendation from a LISD teacher or administrator. Incomplete applications will not receive consideration. The scholarship application and all attachments must be returned to Mrs. Ray in the downstairs counseling department on or before Monday, April 5, 2010. East Texas Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Scholarship The East Texas Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers will award four scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan on majoring in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering at an accredited four year university. Freshmen receive $500 per semester, upper classmen receive $1,000 per semester for a total of $7,000 give over four years. To remain eligible, a student must maintain a 3.0 GPA and 30 hours of course work per year. All applicants must complete and submit the application, including a high school transcript and the attached appraisal form for scholarship included with the application; must be completed by the principal, advisor, or counselor. The deadline is April 1, 2010.

Longview Area Association of Realtors Scholarship The Longview Area Association of Realtors will award five $1,000 scholarships to area graduates who will pursue a degree from a college, university of technical institute in any field. An applicant must: submit a completed application form; may be required to sit for an oral interview with the scholarship committee; be a resident served by the Longview Area Association of Realtors enroll in and maintain a minimum course load of 12 semester hours during each semester for the first year of college. A receipt of enrollment in a minimum of twelve semester hours must be provided in order to receive the first installment of the scholarship funds; maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA during each semester of the first year of college. Proof of semester grades and registration of at least twelve hours for the second semester must be provided in order to receive the second installment of the scholarship fund. Only the scholarship recipient will be notified and presented the award at the school s senior awards ceremony. Return the scholarship application to Mrs. Ray to mail. Deadline is Thursday, April 1, 2010. Longview Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship The Longview Regional Medical Center Fund was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to eligible high school students who are pursuing a career in a medically related field of study and can demonstrate a need for financial assistance. Scholarships are in the amount of $500 with a maximum of four scholarships per student. All applicants must complete and submit the application, including a high school transcript attesting a 3.0 GPA a certified copy of ACT or SAT scores a personal biography three personal references returned in separate envelopes by person writing the reference. o Two school related and one community related personal reference. o Include address and phone numbers o No family members enroll in a minimum of 12 hours per semester submit application postmarked on or before Thursday, April 1, 2010.

Students who apply should plan to enter their freshman year of college in the fall of 2010 at an accredited university, college or junior college in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas or Louisiana. All seniors who will be study for a career in a health-care professional may apply. This would include, nurses, pharmacists, radiology technicians, dieticians, physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, paramedics, etc. and others as approved by the scholarship committee. Pre-medical or equivalent biology-based preparatory programs would be accepted. Students must demonstrate a high level of academic achievement in science and related areas. The scholarship funds may be used for tuition, books and instructional materials. Students must be of outstanding character and citizenship in both the community and school. If deemed necessary by the scholarship committee, interviews may be conducted. Upon selection for a scholarship, the recipient will be notified by mail April 17 of their award or it will be presented at the high school s award assembly. Cecile Moeschle Scholarship Trust for Longview High School and Pine Tree High School Seniors The Cecile Moeschle Scholarship Trust was created in accordance with the last will and testament of Longview philanthropist Cecile Moeschle who died June 17, 1982. She desired that deserving high school graduates have an opportunity to obtain a college education; therefore, this educational trust was created to provide financial assistance to worthy graduating senior at Longview High School and Pine Tree High School. Each application must include the following: Completed application form Photo attached to first page Four (4) letters of recommendation High school transcript ACT/SAT scores included and verified Application signed by applicant Applications must be returned to Mrs. Ray by Thursday, April 1, 2010. The Cateche Dike Performing Arts Scholarship The Cateche Dike Performing Arts Scholarship was established in memory of Cateche Dike who would have graduated from LHS in May 2006. The scholarship in her memory was created to help a student who has a love and passion for performing and singing like Cateche did. Scholarship Requirements

Student must be graduating from Longview High School the same year as applying for this scholarship. Must have at least a 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA). Please attach current high school transcript. Must submit two letters of recommendation from two of your current teachers. An essay of 500 to 600 words telling the scholarship selection committee why you should be selected for the $1,500.00 Cateche Dike Performing Art Scholarship. This essay should include the names of colleges or universities you have applied to for admission or college or university acceptances you have received. Please include your career plans and how this money will help you with your education. All essays must be submitted by Thursday, April 1, 2010. Loop 281 Longview, Texas 75605 Junior League of Longview Scholarship The Junior League of Longview is offering scholarships to female students only to aid those needing financial aid to further their education and/or aid those seeking to return to the work force by pursuing a higher degree. Application must be returned to Mrs. Ray to mail no later than noon on Friday, April 2, 2010. East Texas Baptist University East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) in Marshall, Texas, will continue its scholarship program for students pursuing a degree in mathematics, chemistry, or teacher certification with an emphasis in mathematics or physical science. This is the third consecutive year for ETBU to offer incoming freshmen this program that provides students with four-year scholarships. For more information, contact Dr. Steven R. Sallie Mae Fund Hispanic students who are the first in their families to go to college may apply for the First in My Family initiative scholarship. Texas Department of Transportation Conditional Grant Program Applicants must be economically disadvantaged and plan to major in computer science or civil engineering at a four year Texas public university. Longview 2020 Forum Scholarship The Longview 2020 Forum invites 2010 seniors to apply for one of several $2000 scholarships that will disbursed at $500 each college semester for four consecutive college semesters. Applicants will be reviewed on academic performance and financial need. Applicants will need to provide two letters of recommendation from teachers who know the applicants well and write an essay as described on the application. Deadline is Friday, April 2, 2010. Aaron Burleson Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution The Aaron Burleson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will award one $500.00 scholarships to a graduating high school senior from the Longview, Texas area high schools (Longview High School, Pine Tree High School, Spring Hill High School, Trinity School of Texas and White Oak High School). This award is not open to children or grandchildren of member of the Daughters of the Revolution or Sons of the American Revolution. Applicants must complete the application form; write a one page essay answering the following question: What are your goals for the future and how will this scholarship help you achieve these goals? Laura Reed Memorial Scholarship Friends and colleagues of Laura Reed are offering a one time scholarship in her memory. Applicants must complete the application form; write a one page essay answering the following question: What are your goals for the future and how will this scholarship help you achieve these goals? Longview Educational Support Staff Association (LESA) Scholarship The Longview Educational Support Staff Association (LESA) is offering a $1,000 scholarship, payable at $500 per spring and fall semesters. An applicant must: show financial need;

have a 75 or above average; plan to major in college in either business or education; enroll in college for both fall and spring semesters following 2010 high school graduation; complete the application form; provide a copy of your transcript; and provide letters of recommendation from two teachers. Bettina Gray Scholarship Captain William Young Chapter of the DAR The Captain William Young Chapter of the Daughter of the American Revolution will award the Bettina Gray Scholarship to female seniors at Longview High School. Applicants must complete the scholarship application, write a one page essay about the question stated on the application, and provide two letters of references from teachers, counselors or principals. Deadline is Friday, April 5, 2010. Attorney Felecia Shankle-Rogers Memorial Scholarship The Attorney Felecia Shankle-Rogers Memorial Scholarship is restricted to a Longview High School senior and payable only after the recipient shows proof of enrollment in a two or four year university. Selection of recipients is based on character, leadership, honesty, goals, personal achievement, and a short essay on the applicant s career goals. A minimum GPA of C+ is required. All scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational institution when proof of enrollment is shown. Deadline is Monday, April 6, 2010. East Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse's Elwanda Burgess Scholarship The East Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse is proud to offer the Elwanda Burgess annual scholarship of $500. The recipient will be asked to attend ETCADA's Board of Directors' meeting at noon on May 20 where the recipient will read the winning essay. In order to apply, the recipient must:

attach to the completed application form a 300-750 word essay entitled "How Do Media and Marketing Affect My Choices About Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs?" Gregg County Chapter of the Ex-Students Association of the University of Texas at Austin Scholarships The Gregg County Chapter of the Ex-Students Association of the University of Texas at Austin will award Gregg County Chapter of the Ex-Students Association of the University of Texas at Austin Scholarships The Gregg County Chapter of the Ex-Students Association of the University of Texas at Austin will award scholarships to selected Gregg County residents who will be incoming freshmen at the University of Texas at Austin in fall 2010. These scholarships funds awarded by the local chapter are in addition to other scholarship programs maintained by the University of Texas. In 2009, the Gregg County Chapter of the Ex-Students Association of the University of Texas at Austin awarded $10,000 in scholarships to Gregg County seniors. Applicants are ranked and the scholarships awarded according to academic standing (class rank, grade point average, SAT/ACT scores), extra-curricular activities and achievements and financial need. The ranking process is weighted in favor of academic achievement although the other factors are certainly considered and are of importance. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, April 9, 2010. Longview Tennis Association Scholarship Each year the Longview Tennis Association awards scholarships to graduating seniors who are involved in the tennis program of Longview area schools. If you are a member of the LHS tennis team, please apply for this scholarship. The deadline is Friday, April 9.

Please return them to Mrs. Ray on April to ensure that she meets the mailing deadline. 2010 Cinco de Mayo Celebration The Paisanos of East Texas is offering a scholarship for seniors of Spanish/Latino descent. Applications complete with two 500 word essays (see topics on the application) are due to Mrs. Ray no later than April 16, 2010. Mozelle Johnston Memorial Scholarship The scholarship amount shall be determined annually by the Scholarship Committee with the approval of the Judson Alumni Association Executive Board. An applicant must: have attended Mozelle Johnston Elementary School in the Longview Independent School District; be a member in good standing of the current graduating class of Longview High School; provide transcript and application; provide an official transcript showing SAT/ACT scores and GPA; show school and community activities and participation; provide two letters of recommendation, one from a Longview ISD faculty member and one from a non-school person; and show financial need. A check in the amount of the scholarship shall be mailed to the college/university after proof of registration and payment of tuition and fees is provided. If proof of registration is not provided to the Judson Alumni Association by the first Monday in October following the year of graduation from Longview High School, the scholarship shall be forfeited by the recipient. The deadline is Monday, April 12, 2010.

Junior Achievement of East Texas Scholarship To be considered for a scholarship under current selection procedures, a candidate should: have completed, or will complete by spring graduation, a Junior Achievement High School program. Be a high school senior who will be graduating at the conclusion of the current school year. Be qualified, upon graduation, to enroll at an accredited two or four-year college or university. Ensure that an application, accompanied by an attached transcript with current class ranking be received at junior Achievement, 911 NW loop 281, #211-16, Longview, Texas 75604 by April 15. An active member is defined as someone who is receiving electric service from URECC with the membership in the name of the parents/legal guardians. The recipient of the URECC scholarship award is expected to enroll as a full-time student no later than the fall semester immediately following his or her graduation from high school. The family reports that each year students are disqualified because they return incomplete applications or miss the deadline.
