President s Report Matt Stewart Matt thanked those who came to help at the FSU Open House table this past weekend. Open House went well, with thousands in attendance. The FSU was able to hand out swag and other FSU promotional material. Alan and Matt attended the CSA Presidents Retreat in Barrie this past weekend. Matt reported that this conference was very successful because the attendees ran most of the sessions via their discussion. There was a lot of wiggle room in the agenda for extra time for discussion on some topics that required a proven recommendation to take to the membership during May Conference. Matt is currently working with Gary Lima, Senior Vice President Academic, to bring a number of different policies that currently contradict each other on the procedure of what faculty and staff are meant to do if teachers are unable to attend their classes. Matt also hopes to make the policy more equal for students in terms of when they cannot get to school due to weather. As of tomorrow, Fanshawe College will adopt the new province wide Sexual Assault Policy. The FSU has been an integral part in the implementation of this policy after the MTCU dictated that it be implemented at colleges across Ontario. It speaks to more prevention and outlines action plans for those who are involved or have witnessed sexual abuse on campus. Starting tomorrow, the College will be utilising massive marketing events to publicize the new policy to students around the College. Vice Presidents Reports Jessica Brook VP External & Academic Affairs Jessica reported that the Bylaw review has been completed. The Class Rep/FPT Recognition Event has been scheduled for Wednesday April 8 th from 3:00 4:00 p.m. There will be food and drinks and Jessica will be doing the draw for the last ipad. Jessica attended Open House this past Saturday and enjoyed the opportunity to speak to potential students. Alan Bushell VP Athletics & Residence Life

Alan updated the Board on Varsity Athletics. The Women s Indoor Soccer team won silver at the OCAA. The Women s Curling team won gold at CCAAs. The Men s Curling team won silver at the CCAAs. Cricket World Cup TV events were a success this year, with attendance over 200 and possibly up to 400 in Forwell Hall. Alan would recommend that any event involving high level international play be put into FSU programing in the future. The Presidential Workshop on the weekend was productive with future policies being discussed and strategic planning being done. Alan reported it was a great chance for incoming presidents to meet the new board and become familiar with CSA. Chris Lethbridge VP Finance Chris believed the College Open House to be a very successful event. The turnout was great and the FSU was able to give out a lot of FSU swag and promotional material. Parents were very enthusiastic about OSAP, bursary and scholarship information. Chris noted that an issue with the OSAP application has recently come to his attention. Any student that lives at home and still pays rent does not have an option to submit rent amounts. Matt noted that this can be brought to CSA for discussion. Action Item: Matt to bring up the issue of living at home, paying rent and not being able to submit rent amounts on the OSAP application. Cheriss Marson VP Internal Cheriss has planned a Mental Health Awareness Day for tomorrow called A Night of Stress Relief. Cheriss has discussed the possibility of changing budget distribution to give a higher budget to Mental Health and Wellness Awareness. This Thursday is the World Autism Awareness Day, being held in Forwell Hall. Cheriss is working with an FHP student to plan an event on World Health Day. Anthony Sawyers VP Entertainment Anthony attended Open House on Saturday. The FSU and the College worked in collaboration to recruit students to act as buskers throughout the halls. Anthony reviewed past events including the Song Writers Circle and Last Band Standing Provincials. Anthony also reviewed upcoming events including: DJ Demers Comedy Nooner, A Night of Stress Releif, MIA Nooner, Sex Toy Bingo and Deal or No Deal. Kevin Kaisar and Anthony are continuing to work on transition and training. SAC Reports Imrana Ahmed Health Sciences and Nursing

Imrana had a Class Rep Meeting on March 24 th, in which several concerns were brought to Imrana s attention. A professor in Pre-Health is grading students inconsistently and unfairly and students have exams and classes on the same day. Dental Hygiene students are also concerned that a professor in their program is treating them unequally. Students who fail the final clinical, level 5, are forced to wait a whole year to repeat the course despite the course only requiring a volunteer Preceptor and a few hours of time from an adviser. The Preceptors are not chosen by the College and vary widely in quality leading to very uneven and sometimes unfair results. Jessica to look into these concerns. Students in Practical Nursing are thankful that Pharmacology is now being taught in level 2 is a as opposed to level 3. Students in Fitness and Health Promotion are concerned that there CSEP testing is nor organized by the professors and is therefore conflicting with other classes. Darian Dreise Contemporary Media Darian had a scheduled a Class Rep Meeting on for next Monday, April 6. Corrie George Language and Liberal Studies Corrie was unable to attend the meeting, so Matt read her report for her. Action Item: Jessica to look into the concerns that Imrana has brought forward. There are no current concerns to report for the school of Language and Liberal Studies. Kevin Kaisar Lawrence Kinlin School of Business Kevin has invited the Class Reps to the Class Rep/FPT Recognition Event. Kevin also extended the invitation to the Chair, program co-ordinators and asked them to invite their faculty as well. Students in the Bachelor of Commerce Degree program have class in the summer, but are not allowed to apply for OSAP in the summer semester. Kevin will send more details about this concern to Matt. Action Item: Kevin to send Matt details regarding the Bachelor of Commerce Degree program. Rebecca McCarron Social Director: Simcoe Campus Simcoe Campus had its Open House this past Saturday as well. Becca noted that it went well and snacks, apple cider and swag was given away. Becca noted that Simcoe gives away a laptop to each class, giving away approximately 12 laptops. Simcoe also has an end of the year lunch.

Two of the Simcoe Class Reps have gone above and beyond what was expected of them. Becca has invited these two students to the Class Rep Recognition Event. There is a concern with broken computers and printers at the Simcoe Campus. Matt noted that the College is working on hiring a new IT rep for Simcoe. Maria Nikides Human Services and Public Safety Maria will be hold a Class Rep Meeting next month. Maria has invited her Class Reps to the recognition event on April 8 th. Maria will be attending the upcoming Budget Committee Meetings. Justin Parent Transportation Technology Justin reported that students at Y Building were wondering if they could take one of the picnic tables from the old smoking area to the new smoking area. There is a chain that is tying the existing tables down, but they have the required equipment to cut the chains, bring it over to the new smoking area, and then re-chain it on one of the cement blocks which encloses the smoking area. Action Item: John b. to look into moving the picnic tables at Y Building. Justin reported that there are no changes to the bus route for Y Building. Matt noted that there has been discussion about alternative solutions. Matt is in discussion with LTC and Western regarding some solutions. Melanie Rintjema School of Design Melanie reported that not much has happened in the School of Design recently. Melanie has booked her final Class Rep Meeting for Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Tabatha Rosborough Information Technology Tabatha held a Class Rep Meeting recently and received a lot of feedback about the division. Tabatha has informed her Class Reps about the recognition event. BOG Report Zachary Benayon Zach reviewed the events of the most recent Board of Governors Meeting. The Governors attended a tour of the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business. The Board held a discussion on the topic of Value for Education. The Board approved: Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education program, the awarding of Honorary Diplomas to Jane Roy and Glen Pearson, and to Dr. Victor Han to take place during June graduation ceremonies, change in the Community Integration Through Cooperative Education Fee and the Apprenticeship Fee for the 2015/2016 school year, changes to Policy B- 35 (Board Operating Budget) to update and align with changes previously made to the Audit Committee Terms of Reference Policy, renovations to C Building for the School of Public

Safety, the Interaction with Students (Board Policy D-40) executive limitations policy monitoring report. The next Board meeting will be held on Thursday, April 23 at the Fanshawe Aviation Centre. CSA Update Matt noted that Presidents Retreat was held last weekend and the CSA May Conference is coming up shortly along with the 40 th Anniversary Party. New Business Final SAC Meeting Matt noted that attendance at the last SAC Meeting is extremely important. Matt also noted that after the last SAC Meeting, a social event will be held at Palasad. Next Meeting Monday, April 13 th, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in SC2012/2014 Adjournment 11.7 It was: MOVED by Alan Bushell, SECONDED by Tabatha Rosborough and CARRIED to adjourn the meeting.
