PAGE 2 Vill age News and Notes HOLDEN TIMES Hall Association Welcomes New Members & Grant Funds The Holden Community Hall Association received a positive response after recent news of dwindling membership. At the Annual Meeting, five new members were welcomed to the board, and some were even willing to accept an executive position. Elected at the meeting were: Shari Thompson, president; Ernie Whiteside 1st Vice-President; and Dave Gilchrist 2nd Vice-President. The Secretary-Treasurer, Laurie Foster, is appointed by Council. The Hall Board meets approx. 8 times per year, & raises funds for improvement projects in the Holden Hall. The Board also plans the upgrades, and at times will volunteer to assist with the work. Currently the Hall washrooms are being fixed up with new stalls, paint, and fixtures. A Community Facility Enhancement Program grant was received for this project from the Government of Alberta, Culture & Tourism. The grant of $5,610 will be matched by Hall Association funding. MLA Wes Taylor, Battle River-Wainwright, presented the cheque on March 9/17 to Ernie Whiteside (L), past president, and Mayor Mark Giebelhaus (R). Members of the public are welcome to attend any Council meeting. If a person or a delegation wishes to address Council on a specific issue, please contact the Village Office by 12:00 noon on Thursday, the week before the meeting with your request in writing. Include enough information to allow Council & administration to prepare for an informed discussion. Meeting dates are listed on the back cover.
