All works have been completed in the participating cities, with the exception of Ajloun, where 95% completion is expected by the Loan closing date (March 31, 2014). These works have created an enabling environment for tourism and local economic development, particularly in Madaba and Salt, where the Page 1 of 5
results are very positive. Additionally, the facilities delivered through the project are beneficial to social cohesion, as they provide public spaces where local communities can meet. Despite the Syrian crisis, new businesses have opened in the project areas or in their proximity. Despite the Syrian crisis, new businesses have opened in the project areas and in their proximity. There are still few consultancies under implementation and it is highly recommended that the project staff be maintained and financed through Government funds after the loan closing date.
