Get Hired- Recruitment and Skills Centre Get Hired is an employability event that brings together young people who are looking for work with live entry level job vacancies. The Prince s Trust will be running the upcoming Get Hired event on 28th September in partnership with the Recruitment Skills Centre at Fort Kinnaird Retail Park. The morning session will focus on mock interview practice during which young people will work in small groups with Prince s Trust staff to build their confidence and practice their interview techniques. After lunch there will be a presentation on the vacancies the Recruitment Skills Centre is currently recruiting for. Young people will then have the opportunity to put their CV forward to be considered for the opportunities they are interested in. There will be a wide range of part-time and full-time hospitality and retail job opportunities based at Fort Kinnaird available. Young people will need to bring a CV with them to the event. If they can bring around 5 copies that would be great or we can photocopy it for them on the day. We will be running two CV workshops beforehand on 20th and 25th September if young people need support with creating / updating their CV. Get Hired- Standard Life Get Hired is an employability event that brings together young people who are looking for work with live entry level job vacancies. Step into Childcare or Social Care Training for Care s Step Into course is an Employability Fund stage 3 programme for people aged 16 and above who have a specific interest in care of children or adults. RECRUITING NOW FOR COURSE STARTING 24 th September 2018 Programme Structure: 2 week induction, then 4 days per week on placement and 1 tutorial day Placements: You will be placed in either a nursery, after-school club or additional needs setting, or in a care home, day centre or community care unit Tutorials: You will be given support from your tutor to prepare for placement in your chosen setting and work towards gaining SQA Certificate of Work Readiness units Outcomes: On successful completion suitable participants will move into employment in childcare or social care with the aim of becoming a Modern Apprentice. Other participants will be work ready and will be supported make informed choices for their next steps Training Allowance: Participants receive 55 weekly allowance plus travel expenses Referrals: We welcome referrals from all the usual routes, with an application form to be completed by the young person. JUST DO IT Our Next Just Do It course will start on Tuesday 25 th September at Tynecastle Community Wing- Gorgie Just Do It is a 12 week course (3 days a week) for 16-25 years olds which will give you a great set of new skills to help you decide on your future steps and what you would like to do next. You can: Get started on a new career path or college course Gain skills and confidence to handle new situations Find out what employers are looking for Learn how to job search and gain confidence in interviews Find out what your interests are Gain SQA qualifications delivered by Edinburgh College such as the Steps to work award You may have the opportunity to take part in the John Muir Discovery Award Meet new people and have fun! It s an informal and fun way to improve your chances of moving into something positive and gain employment, training or further qualifications. Whilst having a great time, meeting new people and learning about new opportunities you will also have the opportunity to gain SQA qualifications and enjoy yourself! Cyrenians Care Academy Monday 5 th November Friday 14 th November Great opportunity for people aged 18 or over who are unemployed, not in education or on the Work Programme, are living in Edinburgh and interested in get a job in the Care sector. Delivered through Skills Development Scotland Employability Fund. Cyrenians Market Led Training are delighted to announce a Care course aimed at giving participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to pursue a career in care a sector of growth within Edinburgh. The course provides training for anyone who is looking to work in residential, home care or support work. It was designed in partnership with a number of care employers to ensure that the main areas of care that employers are looking for were covered. These include person-centred care, dementia awareness, adult safeguarding, administering medication, infection control, personal care and the National Care Standards. The course will also cover effective communication skills and personal effectiveness as well as employability skills such as CV development, interview skills and completing care application forms. The course is well established and respected throughout the city s care sector, employers recognise and trust the learning graduates take from the course and we have an excellent record of previous graduates moving into employment directly from the course. It is a ten-day course, delivered at Norton Park, Albion Road, Edinburgh, EH7 5QY, followed by a two week work placement, with a recruiting employer, and an interview. It starts on Monday the 1 st of October. The course is suitable for participants at stages 1 and 2 of the Strategic Skills Pipeline.
