1. OUR: (a) Tripura College of Nursing is a Unit of the Society for Tripura Medical College & Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital, Hapania, Agartala (Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860). It is situated in the premises of Tripura Medical College & Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital, Hapania, about a distance of 7 (seven) KMs away from the heart of the capital city of Agartala & 1.5 KMs away from Agartala Railway Station. It is well connected with the city by road transport. The area is free from noise, overcrowding and pollution. The parent Hospital of the Institution is the Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital of the Tripura Medical College. The 1 st batch of B.Sc.(Nursing) students were admitted in 2007 after obtaining permission from Indian Nursing Council & Tripura Nursing Council. It is affiliated to Tripura University (Central). It is running as a sister-concern of the Tripura Medical College & Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital by the Society. As a pioneer Nursing (Degree) Institute of the State, it is maintaining high standard of the national level with well equipped arrangement. Now, the Indian Nursing Council, vide Notification dated 20-6-2014, has given approval and has permitted the Tripura College of Nursing to admit students for M.Sc. (Nursing) Course for the academic year 2014-15 with 10 (ten) intake capacity in the following disciplines:- (i) Medical Surgical Nursing 2 seats (ii) Paediatric Nursing 2 seats (iii) Psychiatry Nursing 2 seats (iv) Community Health Nursing 2 seats (v) Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing 2 seats Total 10 seats (b) AIM: The aim of the Post Graduate Programme in Nursing is to prepare the Post Graduates to assume responsibilities as Nurse Specialists, Consultants, Educators, Administrators in a wide variety of professional settings. (c) OBJECTIVES: On completion of the two-year M.Sc. Nursing programme, the Post Graduates will be able to:- 1. Utilize / apply the concepts, theories and principles of Nursing Science. 2. Demonstrate advance competence in practice of Nursing. 3. Practice as a Nurse Specialist. 4. Demonstrate leadership qualities and function effectively as Nurse Educator and Manager. 5. Demonstrate skill in conducting Nursing Research, interpreting and utilizing the findings from health related research. 6. Demonstrate the ability to plan and effect change in Nursing practice and in the health-care delivery system. 7. Establish collaborative relationship with members of other disciplines. 8. Demonstrate interest in continued learning for personal and professional advancement. 2. Admission procedure for the academic session 2014-15: Now, for admission to the said M.Sc. (Nursing) Course in Tripura College of Nursing, it has been decided to follow the under-noted procedures:- (a) Distribution of seats: Out of 10 (ten) seats as stated above, 50% i.e. 5 (five) seats have been earmarked for allocation to the existing Nursing Teaching / Non-Teaching Staff and the passed out students of the Institution having requisite qualifications & experiences. The other 50% i.e. 5 (five) seats will be treated as Open for Tripura State domiciled candidates. If qualified candidates as per criteria are not available in the earmarked allocation category, the said vacant seat(s) may be filled up from other categories. The Tripura State Reservation Policy for ST & SC will be followed in respect of allotment of seats. (b) Eligibility Criteria / Admission Requirements: 1. The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council. 2. The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of:
B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks (5% relaxable for ST / SC candidates). 3. Age limit (as on 31 st July, 2014):- 45 Years (Forty five years). 4. The candidate should have undergone in B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an Institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council. 5. Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing. 6. Minimum one year of work experience prior to or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing. 7. Candidate shall be medically fit. (c) How to apply: Interested candidates can obtain the Information Brochure-cum-Prospectus along with Application Form attached directly from the Office of the Principal, Tripura College of Nursing personally / through representative on all working days i.e. from 11-00 AM to 4-00 PM on payment of Rs.1,500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred) only by A/c Payee Demand Draft in favour of Society for TMC & Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital, Hapania, West Tripura, payable at Agartala through SBI or any other Nationalized Banks. The Application Form attached with the Information Brochure-cum-Prospectus can also be downloaded from the Website of TMC & Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital (www.tmc.nic.in). The downloaded Application Form shall accompany the A/c Payee Demand Draft amounting to Rs.1,500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred) only during submission of Application. Please ensure that the Demand Draft bears Code Number of issuing Bank. The candidate must write his / her name clearly on the back of the Demand Draft. The duly filled-in Application and Admit Card Forms along with the documents to be enclosed should reach the Office of the Principal, Tripura College of Nursing, Hapania, Agartala (PIN-799014) by Registered Post / Speed Post / in person by the scheduled date and time positively. Note: Amount once paid for the Application Form and Prospectus is not refundable. The Authority shall not be held responsible for any Postal delay under any situation. (d) Self-attested photocopies of the documents required to be enclosed with the Application: Proof of Permanent Resident Certificate. Pass Certificate of the SSLC / Madhyamik Examination as proof of age. Marksheets of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Examination from the recognized University. Pass Certificate of the Graduation in Nursing Degree. Registration Certificate of the Nursing Council. Experience Certificate to be issued by the appointing authority. No Objection Certificate from the appointing authority. ST/SC category certificate from the Competent Authority (where applicable). BPL Card copies (where applicable). 1 (one) copy of the recent passport size photograph to be affixed on the Application Form and 1 (one) copy of recent passport size photograph to be affixed on the Admit Card. Nationalized Bank Drant of Rs.1,500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred) only (in case of downloaded Application Form). At the time of counselling on call after Entrance Examination result, all of the above documents are to be produced in original along with one photocopy of each attested by a Gazetted Officer thereon. N.B:- The candidates who have obtained Nursing Graduate Degree from the University of the outside State are to submit University Migration Certificate within 3 (three) months period of the admission. 3. Method of Selection: Entrance Test & Counselling: All candidates having Admit Card issued from the appropriate authority should appear for the Entrance Test (written examination) on the declared date, time and the venue. Entrance Test will be conducted with the eligible applicants.
Entrance Test will be conducted in English language only. The type of questions shall be of multiple choices. Total Questions 100 Total marks 100 Duration of Examination 1 Hour 30 Minutes No negative marking. On the basis of Entrance Test result, 2 (two) common merit lists 1 (one) for the existing Nursing Teaching / Non- Teaching Staff & the passed out students of the Institution having requisite qualifications & experiences, and the other for the Open for Tripura State domiciled candidates will be prepared. The total marks obtained in the Entrance Test shall be the basis for determining rank of a candidate in the merit list. For determination of rank in the merit list where more than 1(one) candidate obtained equal marks will be done as follows:- (1) The rank in the merit list will be determined on the basis of experience and whoever has more experience will be declared higher in the rank than the other. (2) In case, experience is found equal, then senior ranking shall be determined on the basis higher marks obtained in B.Sc.(Nursing) / B.Sc.(Hons) Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) Examination. On the basis of ranking, counselling will be conducted on call. 4. FEES STRUCTURE: The Governing Body of the Society has fixed the Fees Structure for the 1 st batch of M.Sc. All fees are to be deposited to the Cash Section of the Institution by A/c Payee Demand Draft in favour of The Society for Tripura Medical College & Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital, Hapania, West Tripura, payable at Agartala through SBI or any other Nationalized Bank. Execution of Bond in respect of fees:- In case a seat is vacated while pursuing the M.Sc. (Nursing) Course, the candidate shall have to pay the fees for the total duration of the Course and he / she cannot claim any refund of the caution money. In case a student is retained beyond 2 (two) years for whatever the reason may be, he / she shall have to pay forthwith the fees as proportionately applicable for the additional duration. The Supplementary Examination fees will be collected as per Tripura University rules.
