CINTACS NEWSLETTER 2 THE CINTACS NEWSLETTER Vol. 54, No. 4 January 2017 Editor...Adam Bange CINTACS is published eight times a year (September through May) by the Cincinnati Section of the American Chemical Society. The submission deadline will be approximately January 25 for the February 2016 issue. Electronic sub mission is strongly preferred. All materials should be sent to: Adam Bange Xavier University 3800 Victory Parkway Mail Location 4221 Cincinnati, Ohio 45207-4221 Tel.: (513) 745-3950 Fax: (513) 745-3695 E-mail: Bangea1@xavier.edu ACS Cincinnati Section Chair: Mark Laskovics mlaskovics@cinci.rr.com 1st Vice Chair & Chair- Elect: Judson Haynes III 2nd Vice Chair: Donna Wiedemann Secretary: Mike Annis Treasurer: Sam Glover Trustees Jackie Thomas Kevin Ashley Diana McGill Section Members, As we start the New Year with a new Local Section Program, I wish all of our members a Safe and Prosperous 2017. First I want to congratulate the newly elected Local Section board members; I look forward to working with you this year as we arrange and execute the program for our Section. I especially what to thank Jackie Thomas and the other outgoing board members for their leadership during 2016. Their dedication and service to our Local Section is much appreciated. Another highlight from last year was the very successful CERMACS regional meeting hosted by our Section. A very big Thank You to Dan McLoughlin and Roger Parker for leading this effort. Dan, Roger and their team did a fantastic job in arranging and managing a most successful technical program. Good Job!! I am personally honored to be the incoming Chair for our well-recognized Section and I look forward to working with our many dedicated volunteers in the New Year. This year, we continue to experience change for the better as the transition to a calendar year continues. The updated by-laws require an annual meeting of the Executive Committee (Elected Officers and Committee/Discussion Group Chairs). This Executive Committee Meeting will be held in January with the first Section-wide Meeting in February at Mount St. Joseph University. As Chair-Elect, I also had the opportunity to attend the ACS Leadership Conference last January. This was an excellent forum to receive some Local Section training as well as make contact with key people at the National ACS. It was also an excellent chance to meet and network with Chair Elects from other Local Sections in our Region. Out of this Conference came the Go-Chem program, a networking forum for members from Local Sections within Ohio. The Go-Chem networking event is being held at the Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky, Ohio during the weekend of 24-26 th February. Activities include a Poster Session, Resume Workshop, and Outreach all at a Family-friendly resort. Please see the Go-Chem Announcement in this CINTACS for additional details. The registration website is: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/go-chem-1st-annual-family-retreattickets-29754443341. Note the registration deadline for the hotel is 25 January, which is fast approaching.
