Private Scholarship Guidelines What is a Private Scholarship? o Scholarships that do not require an FHS Scholarship Application. o These scholarships can be local and/or national. o These scholarships are open to more than just FHS students. o Private scholarship winners are selected by each scholarship s own private committee/through their procedures. Where can I find the Private Scholarship list? In Naviance The College and Career Center (D110) As FHS receives Private Scholarship information, the list in Naviance and hard copies in the College and Career Center will be updated. Please check both places periodically for updates. How do I apply for a Private Scholarship? Use Naviance to download the application or connect to the scholarship website OR pick up a hard copy of the scholarship application in the College and Career Center (D110). Note: Not all private scholarship applications are available in the College and Career Center, so it is important to also check Naviance. Follow the instructions listed in the application - some will require you to mail your application, some will be submitted online, and some must be turned into the College & Career Center. Be mindful of application deadlines, particularly when mailing in applications, as you will need to plan ahead. Many Private Scholarships will require your high school transcript. To obtain your transcript, complete the Scholarship Transcript Request Form in D109 and be sure to return it a minimum of 10 school days BEFORE the application deadline. ***Please note: All Private Scholarships have their own individual application requirements and deadlines, so due dates will vary. It is important to note the deadline for each individual Private Scholarship to which you apply.
