COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM GUIDELINES & TERMS & CONDITIONS 1

CHAMPIONS OF THE WEST 1. What is the Champions Of The West program? Champions Of The West is a celebration of all that is great in Western Sydney. It is an opportunity to recognise the west is full of talent, ingenuity, creativity and determination. Champions Of The West comprises a grants competition for twelve (12) awards, each boasting a $10,000 prize for individuals, groups and businesses. An additional grant of $10,000 will be awarded to the Champion of Champions winner, encouraging people to get behind their peers who are nominated finalists. Nominations from the community are received via an online portal. Nominations will be assessed by a judging panel of high profile members of the western Sydney community, banking sector and News Corp executives and some western Sydney identities. The program will culminate in an event where winners will be announced and grants awarded, on Tuesday 3 June 2014. 2. How many grants are being awarded? Thirteen (13) grants of $10,000 are being awarded to each of the following categories: 1. Community 2. Environment 3. Indigenous 4. Sport 5. Small Business 6. Education 7. Arts 8. Employment 9. Young Achiever 10. Health 11. Tourism 12. Manufacturing/Innovation 13. Champion of Champions 3. Who can apply for a Champions Of The West grant? Anyone that lives or works in Western Sydney as determined by the below Council boundaries. 1. Auburn Council 2. Bankstown Council 3. Blacktown Council 4. Blue Mountains Council 5. Camden Council 6. Campbelltown Council 7. Fairfield Council 8. Hawkesbury Council 9. Holroyd Council 10. Liverpool Council 11. Parramatta Council 12. Penrith Council 2

Employees and their immediate families of News Corp or Fair Go For The West partner affiliates are not eligible to apply for a Champions Of The West grant. 4. Can anyone of any age apply for a grant? Champions Of The West is open to all ages. Applicants under the age of 18 must obtain prior permission of their legal parent or guardian over the age of 18 to enter. 5. When can I send in my Champions Of The West application? Applications can be submitted between Sunday 13 April 2014 and Sunday 11 May 2014. 6. How do I send in my idea? Ideas can only be submitted by making an application through our website. www.thetelegraph.com.au/championsofthewest 7. What kind of ideas are we looking for? Anything that will be of benefit to the community and you require a grant to help the project come to life. Please refer to some examples below: Community facility upgrades, infrastructure, new works or equipment; Environment - restoration and protection, volunteer program funding; Indigenous arts, up-skilling, scholarships; Sport equipment, uniforms, training, health improvements; Small business new products or services; Education primary, secondary, day care, special needs, TAFE; Arts skills development, new work, residencies; Employment training, job placement, social entrepreneurship; Young Achiever scholarships, workshops; Health aged care, clinical funding, training; Tourism attractions, historical/cultural sites, interpretive programs; and Manufacturing/Innovation training/development, new products or services. 8. Can I start an application and finish it later? Unfortunately not, your application must be completed in one sitting. 9. Will the grant for my idea be tax free? All grants are inclusive of GST. You will need to seek advice about any potential tax implications. 10. Where can I get help with my application? Please email championsofthewest@news.com.au 11. How will I know if you ve received my application? You will receive an automated confirmation email to the email address provided. If you do not receive this confirmation email it means your application has not uploaded successfully and you should re-submit your application again. We recommend you save the content of your application prior to submitting online in the event your application does not upload. 12. How will my application be assessed? All applications will be assessed against the following general criteria: The most original and imaginative idea contributing to their local community; 3

The idea must clearly identify and address a community need; The application must show the idea will be of direct benefit to the specific category applied for; The application must show a realistic budget for the idea; and The application must clearly define the outcomes or goals of the project. 13. Do I need to provide identification as part of my application? All finalists are required to complete a consent form, a Statutory Declaration and provide one form of photo identification (valid NSW drivers licence or Australian passport). 14. When can I vote in the Champion of Champions? The Champion of Champions voting opens on Sunday 25 May 2014 and closes 5pm (Eastern Standard Time) Sunday 1 June 2014. 15. Who can vote in the Champion of Champions category? Anyone is eligible to vote except employees and their immediate families of News Corp or Fair Go For The West partner affiliates. 16. Is proxy voting allowed in the Champion of Champions category? No, this is covered in our Terms and Conditions. Any breach of this may result in your application being disqualified. 17. When I register to apply, or when I vote in the Champion of Champions category, will my details be shared? Any details you share with us will be used in accordance with our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. 18. When and where will finalists be announced? Finalists will be announced on Sunday 25 May 2014 in The Sunday Telegraph and www.thetelegraph.com.au 19. When will winners be announced? Winners will be announced at the Champions Of The West Awards night on Tuesday 3 June 2014 all finalists will be invited to this event. All winners will be published on www.thetelegraph.com.au on Wednesday 4 June 2014. 20. If I am a winner, how will I receive my grant? Grants will be placed into a National Australia Bank Transaction account or presented to your community organisation in a cheque. 21. Do I need to provide any further information as a winner after I receive my grant? The benefiting organisation or individual must complete a Statutory Declaration detailing the application of the funds at the end of the project. If a project has not been completed within the tax year, a Statutory Declaration providing a progress report must be submitted to Nationwide News by Monday 31 August 2015. 22. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY INTO CHAMPIONS OF THE WEST in conjunction with THE DAILY AND SUNDAY TELEGRAPHS FAIR GO FOR THE WEST PROMOTION (THE "PROMOTION") 1. Information on how to enter and prize details form part of these terms and conditions; however, to the extent that there is any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and any other published material, these terms and conditions will prevail. By participating in this Promotion, each participant fully and unconditionally agrees and acknowledges that these terms and conditions are binding. This Promotion is a game of skill; chance plays no part in determining the winner. 2. The promoter Nationwide News Pty Ltd ( The Daily Telegraph ) ABN 98 008 438 828 of 2 Holt St, Surry Hills, NSW, 2010, tel: 02 9288 3000. The Promotion commences at 9am Eastern Standard Time ("EST") on Sunday 13 April 2014 and closes at 5pm Eastern Standard Time ( EST ) on Sunday 01 June 2014 (the "Promotion Period"). 3. Entry is open to all residents of New South Wales, either living or working in Western Sydney as determined by the council boundaries which includes Auburn Council, Bankstown Council, Blacktown Council, Blue Mountains Council, Camden Council, Campbelltown Council, Fairfield Council, Hawkesbury Council, Holroyd Council, Liverpool Council, Parramatta Council, Penrith Council, who submit a valid entry in accordance with clause 5 during the Promotion Period (an "Eligible Entrant"). Employees and contractors of the Promoter Groups and their immediate families are ineligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, defacto spouse, child or step child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step parent, grandparent, step grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step brother, step sister or first cousin. 4. Entrants can enter on behalf of themselves or on behalf of an eligible community group. For the purpose of this Promotion, an eligible Community Group is a registered and/or verifiable local community organisation in the areas listed in clause 4, that benefits and contributes to the local community for public good and not limited to school, sporting, not-for-profit or charitable activities. It does not include business, professional, sporting, and political or other groups which the Promoter may determine, at its sole discretion, are involved in the conduct of activities that may offend prevailing community standards. The Promoter at all times and in its sole discretion, may determine the eligibility of a Community Group with regards to, and not limited to, the nature of the activities, the structure and any other considerations determined by the Promoter in its sole discretion. When entering on behalf of a Community Group, entrants warrant to the Promoter that they are authorised to do so. 5. All entrants under the age of 18 must obtain the prior permission of their legal parent or guardian over the age of 18 to enter. The parent or guardian of the entrant must read and consent to all Terms and Conditions. The parent or guardian may be called to verify consent and may be required to sign a release at the discretion of the Promoter. The release will require the winner s parent or guardian to accept responsibility for the acts and forbearances of the winner. The release will include the full name, address and telephone number of the winner s legal guardian. Failure to provide such proof, particulars or releases will immediately invalidate the winner s entitlement to the prize, subject to State and Territory legislation. If the competition winner is under 18 years of age, the prize will be awarded to the winner s parent or legal guardian. 6. The Promoter reserves the right to request any Community Group to produce (within the requested time) appropriate identification or any other documentation (to the Promoter s 5

satisfaction at its sole discretion) in order to confirm and verify the group s eligibility to enter the program, before including an entry in the Shortlist or before awarding a prize. If the documentation required by the Promoter is not received by the Promoter (or its nominated agent) or the Community Group s eligibility has not been verified or validated to the Promoter s satisfaction within the time requested, the entry will be deemed invalid. A prize will only be awarded following any winning group s validation and verification that the Promoter requires in its sole discretion. 7. The Promoter accepts no responsibility or liability for the conduct of any project and the relevant applicants remain solely liable for the conduct of their projects. 8. To enter this Promotion, an Eligible Entrant must, during the Promotion Period: A. complete their name, email address, mobile or landline telephone number and postal address on the application form; B. nominate a project that will benefit their local community in any of the following categories: Community (Category 1); Environment (Category 2); Indigenous (Category 3); Sport (Category 4); Small Business (Category 5); Education (Category 6); Arts (Category 7); Employment (Category 8); Young Achiever (Category 9); Health (Category 10); Tourism (Category 11); and Manufacturing/Innovation (Category 12). (the Categories ) by completing the application form on The Daily Telegraph website at www.thetelegraph.com.au/fairgoforthewest C. submit the application form on The Daily Telegraph website at www.thetelegraph.com.au/fairgoforthewest by 5pm EST Sunday 11 May 2014; 9. Entrants are only able to enter once and in one category for the entire promotional period. 10. No responsibility will be accepted by the Promoter for lost, late, incomplete, illegible, or misdirected Entries. The cost of accessing the promotional website will be dependent on the entrant s individual Internet Service Provider. 11. Entrants are required to take full responsibility for the content of their entry and for ensuring that their entry complies with these Conditions of Entry. For the purposes of these content requirements, entry content includes any content (including text, photos, videos and email messages) that entrants submit, upload, transmit, publish, communicate or use in connection with their entry into the Promotion. Entries must be the entrant s original work. Entries submitted by an individual on behalf of an organisation or group are permitted and require the authority of said organisation or group. The Promoter reserves the right to verify, or to require the entrant to verify, that the entry is the entrant s original work. If an entry cannot be verified to the Promoter s satisfaction, the entry will be deemed invalid. The Promoter may, in its absolute discretion, edit, modify, delete, remove or take-down any part of an entrant s entry. An entrant s entry must not include: 6

(a) any image or voice of any other person without that person s express consent. Entrants warrant that if any such content is included, they have obtained the express consent of the relevant person; (b) any content that contravenes any law, infringes the rights of any person or is potentially insulting, inflammatory, defamatory, obscene, offensive, discriminatory, indecent or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate (which includes, without limitation, any content involving nudity, malice, excessive violence or swearing); and (c) any literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work, any audio-visual or sound recording, or any other item in which copyright subsists, unless the entrant is entitled to do so. If an entrant has any doubts about whether they have the right to include any content (for example, recorded music) they must not include it. By including any such content in their entry, the entrant warrants that they have the permission of the relevant copyright owner to do so and that this permission allows the Promoter to use the entry in accordance with these Conditions of Entry. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify a winner if Promoter becomes aware that the winner and/or the winner s entry is of a type described in this clause. 12. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms & Conditions of Entry or who has, in the opinion of Promoter, engaged in conduct in entering the Promotion which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the Promotion and/or Promoter. 13. Should an entrant s contact details change during the promotional period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided in an entry should be directed to the Promoter. 14. Subject to clause 15, there are twelve (12) Category Prizes available, each consisting of $10,000.00 in a National Australia Bank Savings or Transaction Account or as a cheque made out to the winning person or organisation (each a Category Prize ). There is one (1) Champion of Champions prize, consisting of $10,000.00 in a National Australia Bank Savings or Transaction Account or as a cheque made payable to the winning person or organisation Category prizes are allocated to the winners as determined by the judging panel. The Champion of Champions is allocated to the winner as determined by the most votes. The maximum total retail value of all Prizes offered under this Promotion is valued at $130,000.00 at time of publication. The Prize is not transferable or exchangeable 15. For Category Prizes the following process will apply: a. Judges will determine the Shortlist. The shortlisted Entries will be those determined to be the most original and imaginative and contributing most to their local communities, where the prize winners are considered by the Promoter to be fit and proper persons to be winners under this Promotion (based on any relevant factors including as contemplated by clause 26). These determinations will be made by a panel of judges appointed by the Promoter, and the Eligible Entrant(s) that submitted the shortlisted Entries (as specified below) will be declared the shortlist (the "Shortlist"). Judging of all Entries will be conducted at 2 Holt St, Surry Hills NSW, 2010, (the "Judging"). The judges' decision in relation to the shortlisting will be final 7

and no correspondence will be entered into. The judges, at their discretion, may change the category in which an Entry has been made (including in circumstances where insufficient Entries are received or Entries are judged to be of a poor standard). This will not affect the validity of the entry. b. The Eligible Entrants who submitted the Shortlisted Entries will be notified of their Shortlisting, by email to the address disclosed in the Entry, on Friday 23 May, 2014. c. Each finalist will be invited to attend the awards night ceremony on Tuesday 3 June 2014 to be held in Sydney and exact location to be determined closer to the date. Winners from all categories will be announced at the awards night on Tuesday 3 June 2014 and by email to the address disclosed on the Entry by Wednesday 4 June 2014. Finalists are responsible for their own accommodation, and transport to and from the awards night. d. The winning Entries in each Category will be determined by the judging panel and will be the Shortlisted Entries that received the highest number of votes by the judging panel when judged against all relevant criteria including the most original and imaginative and contributing most to their local communities. Judging of these Entries will be conducted at 2 Holt St, Surry Hills, NSW 2010 (the "Judging"). The judges' decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. The judges, at their discretion, may allocate fewer than the number of Prizes stated above (including in circumstances where insufficient Entries are received or Entries are judged to be of a poor standard). The allocation of the Prizes to the Winners is final and the Promoter will not enter into any correspondence in relation to the Prizes or the Promotion. e. Winners as determined by the judging panels for categories one (1) to twelve (12) will be announced at the awards night on Tuesday 3 June 2014. The name of the winners will also be published on http://www.thetelegraph.com.au/promotions on Thursday 5 June, 2014. 16. For The Champion of Champions Prize the following process will apply: A. The Champion of Champions voting opens 9am EST Sunday 25 May 2014 and closes 5pm Eastern Standard Time ( EDST ) Sunday 1 June 2014. All Shortlisted Entries are eligible to be voted on to win the Champion of Champions. B. The winning Champion of Champions entry will be the entry that received the highest number of valid votes as recorded by the Promoter. Voting will be available to all NSW residents online at www.thetelegraph.com.au/fairgoforthewest voting link. Each person is only allowed to vote once for the Champion of Champions. C. The Champion of Champions winner will be notified on Tuesday 3 June 2014 at the awards night event and by email to the address disclosed by Wednesday 4 June 2014. The name of the Winner will also be published at http://www.thetelegraph.com.au/promotions on Thursday 5 June 2014. 17. In the event a prize winner cannot be contacted by end of Thursday 5 June 2014, the Promoter will continue to attempt to contact the Winner up until the Prize claim deadline outlined in these terms and conditions. Eligible Entrants are responsible for keeping the Promoter informed of any changes to their contact information during and immediately 8

following the Promotion Period by emailing championsofthewest@news.com.au with any changes. 18. To claim their Prize, each Winner must open a National Australia Bank Savings or Transaction account (the Account ), and the Prize will be deposited into that Account within 14 days of the Account being opened. In the case of a Winner holding an existing National Australia Bank Transaction or Savings Account, the Winner may nominate to have the Prize deposited into that existing Account and the Prize will be deposited into that existing Account within 14 days of said nomination. National Australia Bank Transaction and Savings Accounts are subject to opening requirements and failure to comply with any requirements will result in the Prize being forfeited. Alternatively a winner may elect to receive a cheque made payable to the winning organisation within 21 days of the winning being announced. 19. Winners must use any prize money awarded in furtherance of their idea that won the prize. 20. The Winner may be liable to declare the Prize for taxation purposes and will be liable for any tax payable in respect of a Prize. Eligible Entrants should seek independent financial advice in relation to any tax payable on the Prize and the potential impact on their personal financial situation prior to entering the Promotion. 21. If any Prize is not claimed by Monday 3 November 2014, the Promoter may conduct such further judging of the Entries received as may be necessary to apportion all such unclaimed Prize. In this circumstance the second highest voted project by the judging panel will be awarded the prize within relevant category. The Winner(s) will be notified by email to the address disclosed in the Entry within 5 days. Eligible Entrants are responsible for keeping the Promoter informed of any changes to their contact information during and immediately following the Promotion Period. 22. Except for guarantees, warranties and conditions implied by law which cannot be excluded, neither the Promoter nor any other member of the Promoter Groups make any guarantees, representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the quality or suitability of any prizes awarded under these terms and conditions. 23. Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty or other term or condition, implied or imposed by any legislation which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This may include the Corporations Act 2001, the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, Australian Consumer Law or any equivalent State or Territory legislation. If any guarantee, warranty, term or conditions implied or imposed under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable legislation in relation to any prizes awarded under these terms and conditions cannot be excluded (a "Non-Excludable Provision") and the Promoter is able to limit the remedy for a breach of the Non-Excludable Provision, then the liability of the Promoter and all members of the Promoter Groups for breach of the Non-Excludable Provision is limited to one or more of the following at the Promoter's option: i. the replacement of the prize or the supply of an equivalent prize, ii. the repair of the prize, iii. the supplying of the prize again, iv. the payment of the cost of replacing the prize or of acquiring an equivalent prize, v. the payment of the cost of having the prize repaired; or 9

vi. the payment of the costs of having the prize supplied again. 24. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Promoter and all other members of the Promoter Groups expressly disclaim liability for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury which is suffered or sustained in connection with any participant's participation in this Promotion or the acceptance of any Prize. The Winner indemnifies the Promoter and all members of the Promoter Groups against any liability, injury, loss or damage which may be suffered, incurred or sustained by the Promoter or any member of the Promoter Groups arising out of, relating to, or in any way connected with, any act or omission (including negligence) by the Winner, or its use of the Prize, or its breach of these terms and conditions. 25. The Promoter collects information about you, including for example your name and contact details which you provide when registering or using our services as well as information from data houses, social media services, your online activities, our affiliates and other entities you deal or interact with for example by using their services. We collect and use that information to provide you with our goods and services, to promote and improve our goods and services, to provide you with targeted advertising, for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy and for any other purposes that we describe at the time of collection (including clause 26 below). We may disclose your information to our related companies, including those located outside Australia. Any of us may contact you for those purposes (including by email and SMS) at any time. We may also disclose your information to our service and content providers, including those located outside Australia. The Promoter will be entitled to request consent to run police checks on any entrants and, where an entry is made on behalf of a Community Group, any officers and directors of that Community Group. The Promoter is entitled to use the results of any police check to determine whether the entrant and/or Community Group is a fit and proper person for the purposes of this Promotion. Where a relevant person as determined by the Promoter does not provide the requested consent to conduct a police check, the relevant entry may be considered by the Promoter to be invalid and may be excluded from the Promotion. 27. Shortlisted Entrants and Winners agree that they will not provide interviews or information to anyone other than Promoter (or as otherwise approved by the Promoter in its absolute discretion) in relation to the Promotion. 28. As a condition of entering this Promotion, each entrant consents to the Promoter using the entrant s name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event he or she is a winner or is Shortlisted and also to procure the participation and use of the relevant community group s name (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period of time without further notification, remuneration or compensation for the purpose of promoting any products or services manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter. Neither the Promoter nor any other member of the Promoter Groups will be responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received by the Promoter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet. 30. If this Promotion is not capable of running as planned for any reason (including but not limited to failure or malfunction of any computer equipment by reason of infection by computer virus, power failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or technical failures or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion), the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who undermines the integrity or fair funning of the Promotion for other entrants, including by tampering with the entry process, and, after consulting with the relevant legislative authorities, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion. 11
