P H I T H E T A K A P P A N E W S L E T T E R the Alpha Pi Delta CANDITATE STATEMENTS Cheron Lewis My name is Che ron Lewis and I am running to be your next PTK President. As a wife, mother and student I am qualified to take on this role because I have mastered the skill of prioritizing events and balancing my time. If elected I would use my experience as House Manager at the Wadsworth Theatre to keep PTK organized. I love to plan and host events, and I work well with others. Being a Child Development Major and working in Customer service gives me insight on how to properly address and deal with people being both diplomatic and assertive. We all lead busy lives, and I am no exception. Between family, school, and work, we all maintain a delicate balance to keep the order. It is my goal to foster successful relationships and spread the word of PTK on campus to encourage people to strive for success and welcome acknowledgment for their accomplishments. It is my firm belief that I am the ideal candidate for the position of Phi Theta Kappa President.

BRENDA LOPEZ THE LOREM IPSUMS FALL 2016 It is with great passion and enthusiasm that I submit this candidate statement for our Phi Theta Kappa - Alpha Pi Delta chapter s President position. During Spring semester of 2015, I had the opportunity to served the pervious board and Phi Theta Kappa members as the "Director of Events" for the semester. I had the opportunity to watch two different presidents, Martha Johnson and Nallely Castro-Bello, direct and control PTK, which have both inspired me to run for this years president seat. I would like to be considered for the presidential position because I possess leadership skills that I ve develop throughout my involvement in ASO, AGS and PTK and etc. Through my involvement in those various organizations, I have developed skill sets that have helped me to assist others. I ve taken on large scale tasks like organizing major semester events such as the ASO Spring farewell banquet, club mixers, and direct ASO s standing committees; while, working both on and off campus as well as being a full-time student. I have strong communication skills that help me effectively and efficiently express ideas with colleagues, students, and faculty on campus; to prepare and execute tasks to the best possible outcome. I am a tactful leader who can preform exceptionally well with a group and maintain regulations concerning goal oriented and impromptu activities. I believe that I have the appropriate merits to be Phi Theta Kappa president for Fall 2015 because I am a person that perseveres in everything I get involved. I am helpful and resourceful; with a longing to make my time in Phi Theta Kappa meaningful, purposeful, and beneficial to all. Thank you for your time and hopefully your consideration, Brenda Lopez 3
THE LOREM IPSUMS FALL 2016 JASON DE FREITAS I am writing to you in regards to submitting my candidate statement for the presidency of the Phi Theta Kappa - Alpha Pi Delta. I hope you take my candidacy statement into consideration when the current president, Martha Choulee Savelio, vacates the seat. As you already know I was the vice president alongside Martha and the other board members this past year. Of the many events I took part in PTK the past semester, to name a few were, club rush, asking teachers if I could and doing class presentations to a large number of students - many of them very interested, and answering any and all questions that students came up to me with regarding applications and requirements as well as the benefits and scholarships. I read the minutes for many of the PTK meetings outside of the library as well as helped set up, take part in, and clean up after each event that PTK held. I attended both the fellowship with AGS and the veterans club, both held by PTK. I wore the shirt on the designated "Theta Thursdays" to help bring about awareness to the activity of PTK on campus. I even accompanied a few other PTK members who were presenting to their class about PTK for the first time and helped them through the process. As the past VP, I assisted, Backed up, and supported the Club President through all events, gatherings, and activities for PTK. Once again I hope that I can be considered for running for the position of President of Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Pi Delta chapter. Thank you for your time and consideration. 4
THE LOREM IPSUMS FALL 2016 KAYLA MOORE For those of you who I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, my name is Kayla Moore, and I am a second-year student here at Pierce. I have been an active member of PTK since the end of Spring semester of 2014, and am honored to be recognized as the clubs current Director of Fellowship. Being that communication with other clubs and coordinating events was my top priority last year, I see no better fit for myself than as your PTK/ASO representative. As an executive board member, my main goal would be to continue to assist in strengthening the relationships we have with one another, as well as with the other clubs on campus including and especially with ASO. Without PTK s emphasis on leadership and teamwork, we wouldn t be who we are as an academic group today. I know you all work hard to maintain active membership, and you should all be very proud of your achievements. The support and opportunity available within this society is an absolute privilege, and I would be truly honored to be of service to this chapter for the duration of my schooling at Pierce. I m excited to have some fun with you all this year, and I can t wait to witness Phi Theta Kappa continue to thrive this semester. 5
Good Luck To All Candidates!! Phi Theta Kappa- Alpha Pi Delta Fall2015-Fall2016
