Sheng Ding received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Sciences from China Center Normal University, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 1998 and 2005, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Sciences and Techniques of Remote Sensing from the School of Remote Sensing and Information Engineering, Wuhan University, in 2010. He is currently Associate Professor in College of Computer Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Science and Technology. His research interests include hyperspectral data analysis, highresolution image processing, pattern recognition, and remote-sensing applications.
Ming-Hui Du was born in 1964. He received the B.S. degree in 1985 from Fudan University, Shanghai, the M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree in 1991, from South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. He is currently a Professor in the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. His research interests include biomedical signal processing and image reconstruction. Xiaowei Fu received her Ph.D degree in Control Science and Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 2010. Currently, she is an Associate Professor in Department of Computer Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, China. Her research interests include computer vision, image processing, and quantum signal processing. Huijun Hu is a Ph.D. candidate in the State Key Lab of Software Engineering of Wuhan University and also a Lecturer in College of Computer Science and Technology of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. She received her M.Sc degree from Wuhan University in Computer Science in 2006. Her current main research interests include optimization theory, image processing, and text processing. Jingyu Hua was born in Zhejiang Province, China, in 1978. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Radio Engineering from South China University of Technology (SCUT) in 1999 and 2002, and received his Ph.D. degree of Electronic Engineering from Southeast University in 2006. From 2006 to 2007, he was with Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) as an Assistant Professor, now as a Full Professor (tenured). His research interests include mobile communications, statistical signal processing, and digital filter design with applications to communications. Dr. Hua had published more than fifty papers in international journals and conferences, and received the Outstanding Young Teacher Foundation from Zhejiang University of Technology in 2009. He was also a recipient of the 2009 Young Teacher Foundation of Zhejiang Provincial Education Department. Ji-Hye Kim received the B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Myongji University in 2005. She received the M.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Sogang University, Seoul, Korea, in 2011. She has been an Engineer in Image Development Team in Samsung Electronics, Inc. since 2011. Her current research interests are image processing and image enhancement. 256
Wankun Kuang was born in Hunan Province, China, in 1987. He received his Bachelor degree of EE from Jishou University in 2010. Currently, he is pursuing his M. Phil. degree of EE from Zhejiang University of Technology. His research interests lie in the area of FIR filter design and image processing. He has published several papers in international journals and conferences. Ji Won Lee received the B.S. degree in Physics from Sookmyung Women s University in 1999. She received the B.S., M.S., and Ph D. degrees in Electronic Engineering from Sogang University in 2004, 2006, and 2011, respectively. She has been a Senior Research Engineer in Mobile Application Processor Group System IC R&D Lab., LG Electronics Inc. since 2011. Her current research interests are image processing and resolution enhancement. Jun Li received the B.Eng. degree and M.Eng. degree in Computer Science from the Wuhan University of Technology in 2000 and 2003. Currently, he is a Ph.D candidate in Wuhan University. He is currently Associate Professor in the College of Computer Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Science and Technology. His research interests include pattern recognition. Ang Li-Minn received the B.Eng (1st class) and PhD from Edith Cowan University, Australia, in1996 and 2001, respectively. He is currently a research staff at School of Engineering, Edith Cowan University. Prior to joining Edith Cowan University, he was Associate Professor at School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nottingham University. His research interests include the fields of video compression, visual processing, wireless visual sensor networks, and reconfigurable computing. Maofu Liu is currently an Associate Professor in College of Computer Science and Technology of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D, M.Sc, and B.Sc degrees from Wuhan University in Computer Science in 2005, 2002, and 1998, respectively. His main research interests include natural language processing, image processing, and machine learning. Xiaoming Liu received his Ph.D. degree from Zhejiang University, China, in 2007. He visited the Image Processing and Bio-Imaging Research Laboratory, Alcorn State University, USA, as a Post Doctorate Research Associate in 2008. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the College of Computer Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. Li-Hong Ma received the B.Sc. in Radio Engineering, M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees both in Communication and Circuit Systems from South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, in 1987, 1990, and 1999, respectively. She was a Research Assistant at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2000. She is currently a Professor of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, South China University of Technology. Her research interests include digital signal transformation, image/video analysis, and coding. Min-Ho Park received the B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Dongguk University, Seoul, Korea, in 2004. He received the M.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Sogang University, Seoul, Korea, in 2006. In 2006, he joined Video Team in the Research and Development of PIXTREE, Inc. as Senior Engineer. He has been a Senior Software Engineer in SmartTV Platform Team in the Research and Development of LG Electronics Inc. since 2010. His research interests include video processing, analysis, indexing, and compression. Rae-Hong Park was born in Seoul, Korea, in 1954. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electronics Engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 1976 and 1979, respectively, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, in 1981 and 1984, respectively. In 1984, he joined the faculty of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Sogang University, Seoul, Korea, where he is currently a Professor. In 1990, he spent his sabbatical year as a Visiting Associate Professor with the Computer Vision Laboratory, Center for Automation Research, University of Maryland at College Park. In 2001 and 2004, he spent sabbatical semesters at Digital Media Research and Development Center (DTV image/video enhancement), Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. In 2012, he spent a sabbatical year in Digital Imaging Business (R&D Team) and Visual Display Business (R&D Office), Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. His current research interests are video communication, computer vision, and pattern recognition. He served as Editor for the Korea Institute of Telematics and Electronics (KITE) Journal of Electronics Engineering from 1995 to 1996. Dr. Park was the recipient of a 1990 Post-Doctoral Fellowship presented by the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF), the 1987 Academic Award presented by the KITE, the 2000 Haedong Paper Award presented by the Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea (IEEK), the 1997 First Sogang Academic Award, and the 1999 Professor Achievement Excellence Award presented by Sogang University. He is a co-recipient of the Best Student Paper Award of the IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia (ISM 2006) and IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE 2011). 258
Seng Kah Phooi received the B.Eng (1st class) and PhD from University of Tasmania, Australia, in 1997 and 2001, respectively. She is currently a Professor at Sunway University, Malaysia. Prior to joining Sunway University, she was Associate Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nottingham University. Her research interests include the fields of visual processing, multibiometrics, artificial intelligence, and wireless visual sensor networks. Jae-Seob Shin received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Sogang University, Seoul, Korea, in 1985 and 1987, respectively. From 1987 to 2000, he was an Engineer with Digital Signal Processing Laboratories in Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), Gyeonggido, Korea. He conducted a research in the area of image processing and video coding technology. Several kinds of technologies that were developed by his team have been selected as candidates of MPEG-4 International Standard since he joined the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11(MPEG) in 1992 as a member of Korean delegation. He also did a chairing position for the Version Management ad-hoc group of MPEG from November 1997 to March 1998. He is now in chairing position of Interoperability Work Group in MPEG Industry Forum and Vice President of MPEG Forum controlled under MIC (Ministry of Information and Communication). He was a Principal Investigator in the MPEG-4 audio-visual coding team in SAIT from 1990 to 2000. During his research period, he applied more than 60 patents and submitted 13 papers as well as more than 60 technical reports in MPEG standard group. In July 2002, he established PIXTREE, Inc., Seoul, Korea, as a CEO/President of the company. Sanjay K. Singh is Associate Professor in Department of Computer Engineering at Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, India. He is a certified Novel Engineer and Novel Administrator. His research has been funded by UGC and AICTE. He has over 40 publications in refereed journals, book chapters, and conferences. His research interests include computational intelligence, biometrics, video authentication, pattern recognition, and machine learning. Dr. Singh is a member of IET, IEEE, ISTE, CSI. Shrikant Tiwari received his M.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Technology from University of Mysore, India, in 2009. He is currently working toward the PhD degree at the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. Saurabh Upadhyay received the B. Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 2001, and is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at U.P. Technical University, India. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Saffrony Institute of Technology, Gujarat, India. He is actively involved in the development of a robust video authentication system that can identify tampering to determine the authenticity of the video. His current areas of interest include pattern recognition, video and image processing, watermarking, and artificial intelligence. Lee Hao Wei received the Masters in Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, the University of Nottingham, in 2011. He is a member of Sunway University Intelligent and Visual Computing Research Group, Graduate Member of the Boards of Engineers Malaysia, and a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). His research interest includes the fields of intelligent visual, audio processing, robotics, and automation. Yonghao Xiao obtained a first class B.Eng degree in 1993 and a Master s degree in 2003 from South China University of Technology, P R China. He received the PhD degree from South China University of Technology in 2011. Currently, he is working in Foshan University, Foshan, China. His main research areas include image processing, pattern recognition, and intelligent computing. Xin Xu received the BSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in 2004, and the MSc degree in Computer Science and Technology from Wuhan University of Science and Technology in 2006. He is currently working toward the PhD degree in Computer Application at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China.
