Manual has a long tradition of providing a quality education to all of its students. We are the Heart of the Southside! We are committed to making our school a vital part of the Southside community. Many of you may know me from my time at Manual from 2008-2013. I am so very happy to be coming home to continue the good work of educating our students to be career and college ready. Manual Academy is fortunate to have an amazing, dedicated staff who gives 100% to our students. As a school, our mission is to redefine teaching and learning to ensure each student reaches his or her potential. Our teachers and staff go above and beyond to meet the individual needs of each student. The learning environment is both rigorous and engaging. Over the summer, teachers have attended a variety of curriculum trainings and conferences in order to bring Manual Academy to the next level of success. We take pride in our tradition of building positive relationships within our Manual community. For our students to receive the best educational opportunities possible, our staff and families must work as a team. Do not hesitate to contact your child s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Open dialogue is very important as we work as a team with a common goal in mind: student success! Parents are also encouraged to get involved at Manual Academy. This can be done through PTO. Our PTO is working to involve parents in opportunities for social interactions each month and fund raising to help augment the financial needs within our school. Manual will continue to partner with our community to provide opportunities for our students. We are so fortunate to have so many agencies and community organizations ready and willing to help us. This summer Site Planning Teams have been working on Action Plans to take Manual Academy to the next level of innovative educational opportunities for our students. It is an exciting time to be a RAM! For complete information about Manual Policies, please view the handbook on-line. There will be a place to check during online registration that you have reviewed the handbook. Should you prefer a hardcopy of the Parent Handbook, copies are available in the office at your request. It is my privilege to be able to serve the families of Manual Academy. We want your child to be successful as they continue their journey of college, career, and community readiness. I look forward to working with each of you as we create an environment of support and success for our students. Feel free to contact me at any time throughout the year if you have questions or concerns. As the 2017 Valedictorian, Alex Sierra, pointed out in his speech, Manual is a family.
