NICE Standards for Mental Health People using mental health services and their families or carers feel they are treated with empathy, dignity and respect. People in hospital for mental healthcare, including service users formally detained under the Mental Health Act, are routinely involved in shared decision making. People in hospital for mental health care can access meaningful and culturally appropriate 7 days a week, not restricted to 9am to 5 pm. People using community mental health teams are normally supported by staff from a single multidisciplinary community team, familiar to them and with whom they have a continuous relationship. Leadership at all levels and other initiatives Opportunities to engage service user forums/councils/links groups in a structured way. It fits with the work we are doing with user groups. Using the tool has helped us to focus on the perception of the patient/service user, it doesn t matter how colourful a graph is or how detailed the information, if it means nothing to the onlooker.
