November 2017 Thomas Sumter Academy (803) 499-3378 Volume 1, Issue 12 News from The Hill Head of School Blog Dear Parents/Grandparents/Guardians, Another exciting week on The Hill. We have begun winter sports practice in earnest. Humility is our Character Trait of the Month. We have spoken about the eight essential life skills students need for success. The first was problem solving skills and the second critical thinking. This week I want to mention the need for Emotional Intelligence sometimes referred to as EQ. Dr. Elmore believes success in school requires about 25% EQ and success after graduation requires about 75%. It makes sense because in the world after school, people need to be able to manage emotions and relationships, and be able to work with others collaboratively. Where is your student s EQ? Next week Values and Ethics. Please take a minute and go to Niche or Greatschools.com to write a review about TSA. In addition, always remember: you can like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, and Instagram. You can follow me on Twitter at TSA_DrM. #Generalpride. My door is always open. Please stop by.
