Launch of Monaghan Course-finder APP MID will launch a new Mobile Phone APP which will allow people to search for all training courses a v a i l a b l e i n C o Monaghan. The APP will be launched on Monday 22 nd September by Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Heather Humphries. Education & Training Supports Women s Employability Courses Start in Carrickmacross and Monaghan in October. Stay Connected Programme Two Stay connected Internet classes for over 55 s will take place in Clones and Carrickmacross commencing during October 2014. Youth Employability Courses Commencing in both Carrickmacross and Monaghan in October. Enterprise Supports Are you unemployed? Would you like to start your own business? MID can help. The first step to accessing our pre-start-up enterprise supports is to attend a MID Enterprise Information Session. Information sessions are held throughout the county every month. At each session our Enterprise support officer Julie Clarke outlines the qualifying criteria and application process for the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance Scheme. She also outlines the training and mentoring supports provided by MID to assist individuals in developing their business idea and starting a business. Would you like to attend the Irish Men s Shed Conference? The Irish Men s Sheds Association Conference will be held in the Helix Theatre, Dublin on Saturday October 4 th. Shed members from all over Ireland and abroad will attend. President Michael D Higgins will address the gathering, along with David Helmers, CEO of the Australian Men s Sheds Associations and a range of other speakers. There will be presentations on Shedders Experiences, Younger Men in Sheds, and Men s Health. Mary O Rourke of MID says The conference provides an exciting opportunity to from the Australian experience as the whole Men s Shed idea started down under. The conference is open to anyone interested in Men s sheds and MID is providing a bus for all who wish to travel. There are presently 5 Mens Sheds in Co Monaghan (Ballybay, Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Clones and Monaghan Town). LEADER Programme Update The current LEADER Programme is winding down and all its funding has been allocated. In early 2015 a new LEADER Programme will begin. The new programme will continue to support and facilitate development of rural communities and enterprises in. The message from the programme promoters is to be prepared. Now is the time to develop and plan projects to ensure you are ready to apply for the new round of funding.

The group are planning to hold a fortnightly Monday morning Coffee club in The Workhouse. CAMCAS delivers a House Repairs Service for older people and people with disabilities through County Council grant aided renovations and adaptations. CAMCAS also deliver the Better Energy Warmer Homes Scheme (BEWHS) in Counties Cavan and Monaghan. This is a free service to make homes more comfortable, healthier and more cost effective to run. Monaghan. It uses a pool of Garda Vetted volunteers to do small tasks, for example, fix a lock, change a bulb, replace a smoke alarm battery. The projects Disability Employer Liaison Officers work with employers in counties Monaghan, Cavan and Louth to demonstrate the solid business case for employing people with disabilities. The project works in partnership with the Supported Employment Services (EmployAbility) to secure employment for people with disabilities throughout the North East region.
