News Web Site Survey Available Online The Web Site Refresh Task Force at CSUCI invites the campus community to complete the 2009 Web Site Use survey at: http://go.csuci.edu/wsus09?wv The survey consists of 15 questions and will take about 5-10 minutes to complete. Your participation will provide the Task Force with valuable information regarding: navigating and finding information on the CSUCI web site; the quality of information on the CSUCI web site; and the types of information that are available. We value your feedback and thank you in advance for your participation. Please contact Peter Mosinskis, Supervisor of Web Services, ext. 8552 or webmaster@csuci.edu for more information. A Hero s Welcome to CSU Channel Islands Newest Canine Team The CSU Channel Islands Police Department is excited to announce the arrival of its newest canine team, Officer Dan Borgstrom and his German shepherd partner named Hero. Borgstrom and Hero recently completed 12 weeks of basic training and are now certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) in patrol functions as well as narcotics detection. Officer Borgstrom has been with the department since April of 2005. The University s previous canine, Freida left the police department in February of 2008 with her handler, Corporal Tom Finnerty, as they joined the ranks at CSU Northridge. The new team will have regular campus patrols and are anxious for Hero to meet members of his new campus community. 2

Events Community Launch slated for CSUCI s Chicana/o Studies Program Channel Islands will introduce the new Chicana/o Studies program and faculty to the community on Monday, Feb. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Hueneme High School, 500 W. Bard Road, Oxnard. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Chicana/o Studies asks students to examine current and past experiences of Chicanas/os and other hemispheric Latino/a Americans whose origins exist south of the United States/Mexico border. This degree places students at the center in the investigation of local issues in context with transborder questions through interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served and reservations can be made by e-mail to amber.weir@csuci.edu. For further information about this event, please contact Marie Francois, Associate Professor of History and Chair, History and Chicana/o Studies Programs, ext. 3123 or marie.francois@csuci.edu Save A Life - Be a Blood Donor The Rotaract Club of CSU Channel Islands is sponsoring a blood drive on February 3, 4, and 5 at the Bell Tower Mall.
