Volunteer Week is a time set aside to celebrate the tremendous contribution made by thousands of people throughout the province who give their time freely to make their communities a better place to live. It provides an opportunity to express gratitude to the thousands of dedicated volunteers in Newfoundland and Labrador and to increase public awareness of their efforts. VOLUNTEER WEEK 2010: FUNDING TO SUPPORT YOUR VOLUNTEER CELEBRATION/ RECOGNITION EVENT We are offering $100 grants to 20 organizations and/or communities to host events to celebrate volunteerism. (March 20 th funding deadline has passed) GOVERNMENT HOUSE RECEPTION In celebration of Volunteer Week, The Honourable John C. Crosbie, PC, OC, ONL, QC, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Her Honour Jane Furneaux Crosbie will be hosting a reception on, April 20, 2010. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come basis by submitting a registration form. (This event is now full) ST. JOHN S ANNUAL VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION NIGHT The annual recognition night is on April 21st at the Sheraton Hotel. You can register a volunteer(s) to be recognized at the event by submitting a registration form. Categories include individual, volunteer group, family, corporate and media. VOLUNTEER EXPO 2010 DISCOVER VOLUNTEERING! This event is an opportunity for your group to promote itself and attract new interest from the community. Set up a booth at the Volunteer Expo and show the public what you re all about and what you have to offer PROCLAMATION The CSC Volunteer Week Committee, in partnership with Municipalities Newfoundland & Labrador, is encouraging town councils around the province to acknowledge Volunteer Week by signing a Proclamation Form. RECOGNITION GIFTS Show a volunteer you appreciate them. Volunteer gifts and tokens are available for order through the. Gifts and tokens can be purchased by fax (753-6112), mail, or online. St. John s Annual Volunteer Recognition Event for Individual, Volunteer Group and/or Family, Corporate and Media REGISTRATION FORM Organizations are welcome to recognize more than one volunteer. Please fill out a separate form for each volunteer you wish to have recognized, and ENSURE your volunteer(s) is available to attend the ceremony on April 21st. If you would like to recognize an individual volunteer, group of volunteers, a family, corporate, or media please submit this completed form to the address located at the bottom of this page. Individual citizens are also welcome to put forth a name of an exceptional volunteer, group or family and purchase a volunteer recognition item to be presented to that person or group. The family recognition goes to those families that volunteer together as a unit, that share volunteer duties or are committed to volunteer work, both together and separately. The term family relates to the traditional sense of family, as well as any group that feels and acts as a family. PAYMENT: There is a $15 fee to cover the cost of the recognition item that will be presented to your volunteer/volunteer group/family/corporation/media during the celebration event. The $15 fee covers one (1) item. Should you wish each member of a group/family to receive an item there will be an additional $15 fee for each member.

VOLUNTEER EXPO 2010 DISCOVER VOLUNTEERING! Application and Registration Form Does your organization need more volunteers? Do you want a chance to attract new members? The Volunteer Week 2010 Committee is partnering with the Village Shopping Centre to hold a Volunteer Expo on Monday, April 19, 2010 from 12 to 5:00 pm. This event is an opportunity for your group to promote itself and attract new interest from the community. Set up a booth at the Volunteer Expo and show the public what you re all about and what you have to offer. The Volunteer Week 2010 Committee reserves the right to select the organizations who will take part in Volunteer Expo 2010 Discover Volunteering! Only those organizations selected for the Expo will be contacted. Space is limited, so booths may be assigned before the final submission date of March 19, 2010. Please read through the Agreement, negotiated with the vender, to ensure a successful partnership. Display Booking Agreement- Volunteer Expo 2010 Maximum of two (2) representatives from your organization to be present at your display at any one time throughout the Expo All signage must be of a professional nature. We have ensured the vender that there would be absolutely no hand-written signage or materials. Photo of display must be submitted before space can be confirmed. Due to venue regulations, no active solicitation will be allowed. Your representatives may engage any person who approaches your booth, but are not to approach any passers-by. Absolutely no ticket sales at the Volunteer Expo. and the venue will provide 3 x 8 tables and chairs. Proclamation THE TOWN OF RECOGNIZES THE ENORMOUS CONTRIBUTION THAT VOLUNTEERS AND VOLUNTARY, COMMUNITY- BASED ORGANIZATIONS MAKE TO THE SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF OUR PROVINCE; AND IT HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED THAT NEWFOUNDLANDERS AND LABRADORIANS CONTRIBUTE AN ASTONISHING 35 MILLION HOURS OF VOLUNTEER EFFORT ANNUALLY, RESULTING IN A SIGNIFICANT AND POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR OUR CITIZENS; AND THE TOWN OF ACKNOWLEDGES THE THEME VOLUNTEERS CONNECT COMMUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEER WEEK 2010, RECOGNIZES AND SHOWS APPRECIATION TO ALL OUR CITIZENS WHO VOLUNTEER, AND ENCOURAGES THE CONTINUATION OF VOLUNTEERISM. THEREFORE, WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE TOWN COUNCIL, I SIGN THIS PROCLAMATION AND DECLARE THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 18-24 IN 2010 TO BE OBSERVED THROUGHOUT THE TOWN OF AS VOLUNTEER WEEK.
