The journey begins this weekend as the Sooners host Nebraska and travel to Oklahoma State. OU returns six starters from last year s squad, including 2017 All-Big 12 first team selection Kaylee Dao. OU has won five of six home openers under head coach Matt Potter and eight of their last nine, dating back to the 2008 season. FAMILIAR FOES OU and Nebraska are no strangers to each other, spending 15 years together as members of the Big 12 Conference before Nebraska departed in 2011. Head coach Matt Potter s first win at Oklahoma was a 2-1 victory over the Huskers in 2012. The Sooners and Huskers have only met twice in the last seven years, with OU winning the last two meetings. Sunday s match against Oklahoma State marks the first Bedlam Series opener across all sports in 2018. The non-conference contest will be the first of two showdowns between the Sooners and the Cowgirls this season, with the second taking place on Sept. 30 in Norman The schools have met twice a year since 2010. Of OU s eight wins in the Bedlam series, six have come under seventh-year head coach Matt Potter, including five in the last eight contests. EXHIBITION RECAP The Oklahoma soccer team earned a victory in its final tune up before the regular season begins, topping North Texas, 1-0, in Denton, Texas. In the 26th minute, freshman Megan Reilly found the back of the net to give OU a 1-0 lead. With the Sooners pressing deep into UNT territory, Reilly took a shot from six yards out, just getting the ball past the UNT keeper. All three OU goalkeepers saw action, combining for seven saves. Sophomore McKinley Crone played the first 45 minutes, tallying one save. Freshman Megan McClay started the second half and had an impressive showing, notching four incredible saves. Sophomore Paige Hobart finished the game in goal for OU, recording two saves in 20 minutes in goal. 2017 STATISTICAL COMPARISON OKLAHOMA NEBRASKA OKLAHOMA STATE OVERALL RECORD 3-13-4 9-5-5 16-4-3 HOME 3-3-2 4-3-2 9-0-1 AWAY 0-8-2 3-2-3 6-3-2 NEUTRAL 0-1-0 2-0-0 1-1-0 CONFERENCE RECORD 1-5-3 3-3-5 8-1-0 GOALS 12 30 45 ASSISTS 7 23 37 POINTS 31 83 125 SHOTS 197 302 332 CORNER KICKS 75 103 133 SAVES 108 53 93 SHUTOUTS 4 8 6 GOALS ALLOWED 33 30 25

The Huskers are under the direction of had coach John Walker, who is 318-151-39 in 25 seasons at the helm of the program. Junior Elyse Huber headlines the attack for Nebraska. Huber was second on the team last season with seven goals, including four game winners. Junior Aubrei Corder returns for the Huskers in goal after recording seven shutouts a year ago. PREVIEWING OKLAHOMA STATE The defending Big 12 regular season champions were picked to finish second in the league by conference head coaches. OSU is coming off a 16-4-3 season in which they went 8-1-0 i Big 12 play. Led by All-American forward Haley Woodard, OSU returns 10 players who started at least 12 games last season, and 76 percent of the players who accounted for the Cowgirls' Big 12-best 45 goals in 2017 are also back. 2018 SIGNING CLASS This fall, the Oklahoma soccer team is joined by 11 freshmen in Abigail Bancroft, Cameron Tharp, Chloe Bohanon, Hailey Davidson, Megan McClay, Jackie Stacy, Jasmine Richards, Lauren Tovy, Megan Reilly, Olivia Smith and Paige Thompson will join the Sooners in 2018. Ten of the 11 players hail from the state of Texas with one coming across the pond from England. Each comes from a competitive club, coached by the best and having played in some of the best atmospheres, OU head coach Matt Potter said when the class signed in February. I believe this incoming class will be lively, skilled and their energy will be fun for all Sooner soccer fans to watch. SOONERS AT JOHN CRAIN FIELD Since the beginning of the 2015 season, OU is unbeaten in 21 of its last 27 home matches (15-6-8). HEAD COACH MATT POTTER After six seasons at the helm of the Oklahoma soccer program, head coach Matt Potter has begun to see his vision for the team take shape. A proven leader and builder of successful programs, Potter arrived at OU in December 2011 with the goal of positioning the Sooners as one of the nation s elite soccer teams. The 2017 season saw the Sooners post a 3-13-4 record, recording shutouts in all three draws, including ending Texas perfect season. Junior Paige Welch earn the Big 12 Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year and Kaylee Dao was named to the All-Big 12 First Team after leading the team with four goals on the year. Fourteen Sooners were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team, with four athletes posting 4.0 GPAs. Potter s fifth campaign saw the Sooners march their way into the record books. The Sooners picked up their first-ever win in NCAA play with a 1-0 victory over SMU in the first round of the tournament. The victory represented its 14th of the season, the most in school history. A program-record six Sooners earned Big 12 accolades, including Rachel Ressler (first team), Liz Keester (second team), Jemma Cota (second team), Tori Bowman (second team), Paige Welch (second team) and Kristina O Donnell (freshman team). Redshirt senior goalkeeper Kassidie Stade set the school standards for both single-season and career shutouts with nine and 20, respectively. In 2015, the Sooners reached the 10-win mark for the second consecutive season and recorded their first undefeated home record in program history. Against UTSA, the Sooners scored eight goals, matching the school singlegame record, while junior Caren Nelson recorded just the third hat trick in OU history. Potter led Oklahoma to a breakthrough season in his third season at the helm of the program, returning OU to the NCAA Tournament and helping the Sooners break the 10- win mark for the first time since 2010. Potter guided five players to All-Big 12 honors: Devin Barrett (Tournament), Madeline Brem (Tournament), Abby Hodgen (Tournament), Lizzie Luallin (Newcomer) and Laura Rayfield (Newcomer, Tournament). Potter led Oklahoma to a 7-9-4 record in his first season as head coach, the most wins by a rookie head coach in Sooner history. Senior Renae Cuellar was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, NCAA Division I All-Central Region first team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and captured first All-Big 12 and Big 12 All-Newcomer team honors.
