7th Grade Writers Every year Mrs. Karen Manning s 7th grade students write letters to the editor of the Chronicle Telegram. The letters are published throughout the month of January. Over the next couple of weeks you will have the opportunity to read a few. We hope you enjoy them. I am a 7th grader at St. Mary School in Elyria. It is a nice school. I love it here at St. Mary because everyone here is so nice to me and everyone else. Learning the curriculum is fun and easy. The technology that we have here at St. Mary s includes Smartboards in every classroom, Apple computers and Apple Ipads. We sometimes play games on the Smartboard to help us learn faster. The teachers describe every bit of what we need to know for lessons or worksheets. If I were not present when a teacher was describing something, she would be more than happy to help. The teachers are super nice, and they care about me and my grades. A couple of months ago I was having a hard time staying organized. I would always lose my homework. My grades dropped quickly. My teacher told me that I was capable of getting straight A s. She told me to get a binder with rings and pockets so that I could put my notebooks and supplies inside it. A couple days after I got the binder, my teacher and I saw an improvement in my grades. I never knew how much organization could affect my grades. If parents aren t happy with their children s school, they should visit St. Mary s or give us a call at (440)-3222808. April 1, 2014 2:30-6:00 p.m. Come to our St. Mary classrooms and see what is in store for next year. You also have a chance to win a $250 scholarship. There will be three drawings: 1 Primary (K-2) 1 Intermediate (3-5) 1 Jr. High (6-8) Sincerely, Taylor Holodnak Wellington Watch for more information in the Thursday folder this week. St. Mary Advanced Band students pose for a photo following their performance in the Lorain County Catholic Schools Band Festival held at St. Jude School on February 27, 2014. The students spent the day practicing their music and then performing several selections for family and friends that evening. Mrs. Laura Ramsey, St. Mary & St. Jude Band Teacher organized the event and also conducted. Thank you Laura for all of your hard work. This was a perfect opportunity for our talented students to be a part of a larger musical group. The performance was music to our ears.

Thank you for your Support! Thank you to those who joined us for our PTU Meeting last evening. Hard to believe we have only one meeting left this year on May 13th. More details will follow. We do have a few activities to look forward to before the end of the school year. One being the increasingly popular Elyria Memorial Day Parade. We will be working on our St. Mary Float which seems to grow larger every year. We are looking forward to incorporating the St. Mary Band and Athletics along with the talents of our Art Club, Scouts and Extended Day students. That was a heads up that you will be hearing from us soon! Watch for more information from our Parade Queen Planner, Heather Amato. We look forward to everyone participating in this fun, spirited event. We will also have another Marco s Pizza Night, possibly a Family Movie Night, and the end of the year picnic. Please watch your Wednesday folders for requests for help and participation. Suzin L Chocolatier Our Easter candy fundraiser began on March 5th. We will be taking orders after the Masses on March 15, 16 and March 22, 23. Orders will be distributed on Friday, April 11 to school families after school. They can deliver to Parish families the weekend of April 12 & 13. If you have any questions, please email logansmom1222@yahoo.com. This is a excellent way to fill those Easter Baskets Winter Sports Banquet Please join us on Thursday, March 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall for our annual awards banquet. Music & Storytelling Sunday, April 13 th, 2014 7:00pm Elyria Catholic H.S. Auditorium 725 Gulf Road, Elyria Sean founded Movin With The Spirit, Inc. (MWTS), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to boldly proclaiming God s eternal truth and love, in January of 2000. Since then, he has had the opportunity to speak to hundreds of thousands of teens and adults across the country and internationally. Sean has performed and spoken at venues such as: The National Catholic Youth Conference, World Youth Day, and the Creationfest. He is a regular keynote speaker at Steubenville youth conferences across the country, and is often a headliner at the Soulfest Christian music festival. He has been a guest on multiple programs on EWTN, and has been challenging men at diocesan men s conferences throughout the country to live their faith and lead others to Christ. Sean is a graduate of Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Conn., where he does work as an instructor and retreat leader. In the coming year, he will again speak and perform at nearly 100 events where he will continue to reach out to both the hearts and minds of his audiences. Tickets are $10.00 each (proceeds from this event will benefit Sean s mission work through Haiti 180) Contact Dean Robinson: robinson@elyriacatholic.com or 440-725-9781 for ticket information Building on his organization s work in the U.S., Sean has mobilized a team to help the poor of Haiti. MWTS Haiti 180 (haiti180.com) constructed and operates a lively orphanage and state-of-the-art school, and has been housing, feeding, and caring for children and villagers in desperate need of support. The organization is in the process of building a medical clinic and a home for the forgotten elderly in the local and surrounding communities.
