Seattle Children s Research Institute Seattle Children s has a large research institute and is involved in hundreds of projects that cover every phase of research, from studying how diseases work to improving investigational therapies. They have pioneered groundbreaking cystic fibrosis treatments and cutting-edge cancer therapies that help a child's immune system defeat cancer, and have made other major contributions to pediatric medicine. With 607,000 square feet of clinical, laboratory and office space, a workforce of over 1,600 people and over $120 million in total extramural funding for the 2017 fiscal year, they are working toward the next wave of lifesaving discoveries. Photo Credit: Aedas Seattle Children s Research Institute is currently working on the development of Building Cure, a 540,000 square foot research building, which will be dedicated to developing therapies for children with diseases such as cancer, type 1 diabetes and sickle cell anemia. Building Cure will include features such as research labs, a Science Discovery Lab for students and the community to learn about science, as well as the Cure Factory, a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that will expand our ability to translate laboratory discoveries into cell therapies for patients using immunotherapy and gene therapy. 3

Position Description Senior Director Overview: There are very few organizations that truly live their mission, Seattle Children s does: We provide hope, care and cures to help every child live the healthiest and most fulfilling life possible. Seattle Children s lives their mission, vision, and values and wants team players who can embrace their belief in taking care of children. As a senior leader in the IT department, this individual will lead four different departments and a team of approximately 100 individuals. With an aggressive timeline for an integrated electronic health record implementation, this individual will play a key role in the implementation. This position will manage the CIS (Clinical Information Systems) team, the Patient Access and Revenue Cycle Team (PARC) team, HIM and Enterprise Imaging. Seattle Children s currently has Cerner clinical applications for both ambulatory and inpatient and integrated EHR revenue cycle and patient access applications. With a new CIO in place, the IT team is moving forward with major initiatives and change management skills are imperative. Seattle Children s is currently involved in multiple construction projects, including additions to the hospital, new research buildings, and a new build out for IT, located in downtown Seattle. One of their five pillars is innovation and involves relationships with major companies such as Amazon and Microsoft, as well as working with startups and conducting Hackathons. The entire organization is invested in being the best children s hospital in the country. They are in the top five facilities in pediatric research and are experiencing tremendous growth. Seattle Children s is a complex organization. This position will be critical to engagement and change that needs to happen with the integrated electronic health record implementation. With the very aggressive timeline and a large strategic investment in this project and IT, this Senior Director of Enterprise Clinical Systems will be part of the IT leadership team. Seattle Children s uses lean/toyota Production Systems for daily improvement. The organization provides low cost mass transit passes and actually provides a daily stipend for not driving solo to work. For each day you bike, take mass transit or carpool, you earn money. Job summary: The Senior Director of Enterprise Clinical Systems leads the strategic implementation and operational support of a fully integrated electronic health record (EHR) to support the mission of Hope, Care, and Cure at Seattle Children s. Partners with clinical, research, and operations leaders and teams to implement and support enterprise clinical systems to better care for pediatric patients, engage patients, support business and care orchestration, and accelerate research. Leads and manages teams supporting integrated EHR, medical imaging, and health information management. Develops and supports governance of the integrated EHR and other enterprise clinical systems. Colloborate with other senior Information Technology leaders to set and execute the overall Information Services strategy. Develop goals to meet industry and international standards for quality and customer and patient engagement. Develop, manage, and monitor overal operating and capital budgets. Responsibilities: Manage four departments with a total team of approximately 100 people Provide mentorship and leadership to the four direct reports Lead departmental change management as well as with the organization as the integrated electronic health record implementation progresses Provide program and project direction Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree Master s preferred Experience leading large scale implementation of a major EHR Epic preferred 8+ years of IT management experience Academic or children s hospital expertise preferred 5

Recreation Seattle residents are never lacking in things to do.
