New York City Economic Development Corporation NYCEDC is the city s primary engine for economic development, charged with leveraging the City s assets to drive growth, create jobs, and improve quality of life for all New Yorkers 3

Smart Buildings Tech Challenge Overview An opportunity for smart building innovators to pilot their technologies at the Brooklyn Army Terminal How to Participate: Review program requirements Submit an application for one or more challenge areas Applicants will be notified by August 15 th Finalists will pitch their solution to EDC in September Following the pitch event, winners will be notified, agreements between winners and EDC will be put in place, and pilots begin 4

Smart Building Tech Challenge Areas Proposed tech solutions should address one of the following areas: Metering: Technologies that increase accuracy and efficiency in electric or water metering Maintenance: Technologies that improve maintenance of on-site infrastructure, including elevators and water pumps Communication: Technologies that facilitate communication between BAT staff, tenants, and the surrounding community or applications that facilitate communication for other smart building solutions 5

Smart Building Tech Challenge Goals 1. Address three distinct challenges at BAT in areas of metering, maintenance and communications 2. Provide technology piloting opportunities to companies with market ready tech 3. Facilitate increased exchange between qualified and relevant technology companies and the Brooklyn Army Terminal community 4. Highlight the Brooklyn Army Terminal as a model for 21 st century innovation within urban industrial campuses 6
