USTAR VISION AND MISSION Utah Vision: Utah will lead the nation as the best performing economy, and be recognized as a premier global business destination. USTAR Vision: Build a robust innovation ecosystem in the State of Utah. USTAR Mission: USTAR s mission is to accelerate the commercialization of science and technology ideas generated from the private sector, entrepreneurial and university researchers in order to positively elevate tax revenue, employment and corporate retention in the State of Utah Key USTAR Tasks: 1. Support technology entrepreneurs and Innovators through training, funding, incubator and accelerator programs 2. Broker technology transfer by connecting capital, management and industry 3. Address market gaps in Utah's technology ecosystem 4. Strengthen Utah research capacity. 3

USTAR LEAN LAUNCHPAD (LLP) PROGRAM USTAR LLP Mission: USTAR Lean LaunchPad Program mission is to establish product market fit for science and technology ideas and strengthen competitiveness of Utah technology companies for private and public funding. 4

USTAR LLP PILOT USTAR s Lean LaunchPad program will provide training for startup companies and research teams to establish product market fit Taught by a nationally certified LLP instructor and USTAR faculty this pilot will include professionally developed curriculum based on the LLP and I- Corps courses Teams participating must commit to the entire 8-week course and dedicate time to completing customer interviews and weekly presentations Teams successfully completing the course will receive access to services to create a professional 2-minute video telling their story for the final presentation on June 23 5

USTAR LLP PILOT DETAILS Location: Salt Lake Community College, Miller Campus, Sandy Dates: Friday, April 28 June 23, 2017 Times: 12:30 4 p.m. Database: Access to a learning and reporting platform for tracking interviews, lessons learned and course materials will be provided Mentors: Each team will be assigned an industry mentor to provide guidance through the LLP customer discovery process 6

ELIGIBILITY All teams must consist of three members: Technical lead Business lead Marketing lead Technologies must: Fit USTAR Targeted Technology Sectors Be at a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 2-4 Note: University teams eligible for the I-Corps programs at University of Utah or Brigham Young University, or the TVC Lean Launchpad program are not eligible for USTAR LLP. 7

TEAM REQUIREMENTS Actively participate in class each week for the duration of the course Conduct 10-15 customer discovery interviews each week Prepare and deliver presentations weekly Record and report weekly progress Comply with USTAR reporting requirements While there is no fee to participate, teams may be assessed a fee if they do not complete the full program 8

APPLICATION PROCESS Online Application Process: Complete online application form, business model canvas, petal diagram and GRAMA if necessary Team members apply together as a complete unit Must be available for dates of classes in Sandy, Utah Application Deadline - April 10 th at 5 p.m. Screening and Interviews USTAR will arrange in-person interviews with teams being considered for acceptance 11
