Scheduled Presentations IJIS Integrated Justice Information System Representatives of the Governor s Office, Office of Court Administration, Conference of Urban Counties, County Information Resources Agency, DPS, DIR and others will discuss the efforts to create a plan and structure for a statewide IJIS. Disaster Recovery Jed Rogers from the Texas State Library will present information on identifying potential hazards and preventive/protective techniques. Cultural Diversity This course takes a look at some of the diverse cultures in Texas, giving Texas Peace Officers and Correctional Officers (1) an understanding of how cultural and ethnic factors can hinder communication and (2) ideas and suggestions for breaking down those communication barriers. Open Records Joe James from the Attorney Generals Office will present the latest information on the Open Records Act. Wireless Initiative Leonard Scott from the Corpus Christi Police Department will provide information about CCPD s wireless IT systems. Ethics For Law Enforcement Information and guidelines on the importance of Ethics in law enforcement. DPS TLETS Security Addendum update session will be presented by Pam Pierce and Alan Ferretti. Case studies of other Texas agencies that have been certified will assist other agencies in submitting these NCIC required documents. Amber Alert Training Sam Allen with Texas DPS will provide information on the functions of and procedures for using the Amber Alert system. DPS Crime Records Update David Gavin is the Assistant Chief of the DPS Administration Division, Crime Records and serves on the FBI s CJIS Advisory Policy Board. Updates on the DPS policies will be covered.
