PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES PURPOSE The purpose of this program is to provide attendees with information that will enhance their ability to empower the nursing profession and provide evidence based care for America s Heroes. OBJECTIVES Upon completion of the Annual Meeting, participants will be able to: Identify and describe the VHA s Whole Health Initiative and its importance to the future of VA health care. Describe the benefits of Telehealth. Describe how grass roots legislative initiatives provide the foundation for making positive change. Describe the difference between Hospice and Palliative Care. Describe the application of Evidence Based Practice in daily practice. Identify the signs, overt and covert, of bullying. Summarize the direction of nursing within the Department of Veterans Affairs including Full Practice Authority. Describe and appreciate the impact and extent of crisis deployment. The Nurses Organization of Veterans Affairs (NOVA) is accredited with distinction as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. In order to receive full contact hour credit for this continuing nursing education activity, you must attend, at minimum, 90% of scheduled learning activities, participate in individual or group learning activities as required, and complete an evaluation. A conflict of interest exists when an individual is in a position to control or influence the content of an educational activity and has a financial relationship with a commercial interest, the products or services of which are pertinent to the content of the educational activity.
