No matter what career path you choose to take, you will need good communication skills. You will use communication skills to work with others to accomplish tasks as part of a team. Test your communication skills by participating in the Opposites Attract Game. Play the game with any team. After you play the game, consider the following questions: How well did you communicate with others? What could you have done differently to enhance your communication skills? Did you enjoy learning about someone using your communication skills? Other than through words, what are other ways that you communicate with people? *Contact Mrs. Gloria Miller at institches1@cox.net or Mrs. Kali Zammit to sign up to receive information on upcoming sewing and fashion workshops. Workshops are open to members in 4th - 12th. **If you own a sewing machine, please bring your machine and manual to workshops. If not, a sewing machine will be provided. NOTE: Remember to bring material, pattern, and notions to all workshops. Contact Mrs. Gloria Miller if you need a list of materials needed for the workshop. This is a fun game that you can play with any team to test your communication skills. Remember, a team consists of different people with different strengths and weaknesses. We often have to work with people who we think are opposite of us. However, every teammate, although they are all different, have unique strengths that make each team a great ONE! Directions to the game: 1. Each person will receive a piece of paper with a word on it. The paper will be taped to the person s back so that the person cannot see their own word. 2. When the Game Coordinator says Go, everyone must walk around asking yes or no questions to other people in order to find out what word they have taped to their backs. 3. Once the person figures out what he/she is, that person needs to find the person who is his/ her opposite. (For example, if I find out that I am floor, I need to find the person who is ceiling. ) 4. Once you find your pair (or your opposite), take some time to talk to each other. Tell each other 3-5 interesting facts about one another. Some examples of topics include the following: Favorite hobbies Favorite subject Best memory Special talent
