Twedt, would like to remind Story County property owners that the second half of the fiscal 2012 2013 property taxes are due on or before March 31, 2013, however, since this falls on a weekend, you have the following Monday, April 1st. Penalty of 1 ½ % attaches April 2, 2013. See attached press release on page 4. Upcoming Nevada Events A Night of Country Music at Talent Factory Join them for an evening of GREAT entertainers on Saturday, March 16 at 7 pm. $5 admission they are now accepting debit and credit cards. The Nevada Historical Society Trio Bowling Tournament Saturday, March 23 rd at 2 pm or 4 pm at Sports Bowl. Cost is $25/person, $75/team. They are raising funds for a zero-turn lawnmower. Like the Nevada Chamber of Commerce Jaycees Annual Easter Egg Hunt The Nevada Jaycees will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30 at Rolling Green Village. Ages 0 to 2 years old will hunt for eggs at 1 pm inside Rolling Green. Ages 3 to 10 years old will hunt for eggs at 1:15 outside Rolling Green. Nevada Feeds the World On Saturday, May 4 from 8:30 am to noon at Gates Hall, you can help package meals for children from Gonaives, Haiti, that will feed them for an entire school year. To register, call the Chamber office at 382-6538 or go to the Chamber website www.nevadaiowa.org and sign up. Donations are being accepted and can be mailed to Jon Augustus at Kockler s -1110 6 th Street, Nevada, IA 50201. Community Garage Sale Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8. Sign-up forms are available at the Chamber office or call 382-6538. There is a $10 fee to participate.

Twedt, Story County Treasurer 515-382-7330 Rtwedt@storycounty.com PROPERTY TAXES DUE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Property Taxes Due DEPUTIES: Jane Evans-Financial Dorothy Lewis-Operations Nevada, IA Wednesday, March 13, 2013 Story County Treasurer, Renee M. Twedt, would like to remind Story County property owners that the second half of the fiscal 2012 2013 property taxes are due on or before March 31, 2013, however, since this falls on a weekend, you have the following Monday, April 1st. Penalty of 1 ½ % attaches April 2, 2013. Property tax statements were mailed out in August 2012. By law, all property owners are mailed a tax statement even if they pay taxes through an escrow account. Property owners who pay taxes through escrow accounts or other third party arrangements can consider the tax statement FYI. Anyone with doubts about their property tax obligation should check with their bank or mortgage company, or call this office at 515-382-7330. Mailed payments must be post marked on or before March 31, 2013. Remember dropping it in the mail box does not guarantee a postmark. It is very important that the payment coupon from the property tax statement accompany all payments. Paying on line only costs $.40 cents when you pay by E-check!! The cost is less than a postage stamp!! We are pleased to offer payments by Discover Card, MasterCard and Visa or debit card in our office as well as on line at www.iowatreasurers.org. Additional fees will apply-but you know the fee before agreeing to the payment. Other Websites with useful information for Story County property owners include www.storyassessor.org and www.storycountyiowa.gov. For the convenience of commuters and others unable to make it to our office during normal business hours, the Story County Treasurer s Office will have extended hours on Friday, March 29, 2013. We will open at 7:00 a.m. and remain open until 6:00 p.m. Our office now has an outdoor drop box outside the Administration Building at 900 6 th Street-Nevada, IA, for your convenience. However payments placed in this after April 2 nd will require penalty! Anyone with questions can call the Treasurer s Office at 515-382-7330.
