PHF Presentation - Recipient Is Donor The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundation s way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. It is named for Rotary s founder, a Chicago lawyer, who started our organization with three business associates in 1905. A world of peace and goodwill comes closer to reality today as becomes a Paul Harris Fellow. gift of $1000.00 US to The Rotary Foundation s educational and humanitarian programs is a commitment to peace and to a better life for people and the membership of this Club will never meet. It is because of gifts such as this that The Rotary Foundation can carry out an array of programs that achieve beneficial changes in our world: Improved living conditions, increased food production, better education, wider availability of treatment and rehabilitation for the sick and disabled, new channels for the flow of international understanding, and brighter hopes for peace.

In becoming a Paul Harris Fellow, joins a remarkable company of persons throughout the world. They are recognized for their devotion to the ideal of good will, peace and understanding a goal of Rotarians the world over, and one that clearly shares., It gives me great pleasure, to present you with the emblems of appreciation given to a Paul Harris Fellow certificate, and pin. We congratulate you, and we thank you for your commitment to the programs of The Rotary Foundation. Paul Harris said: He who tries to find the good in others will be rewarded, for others will surely find the good in him. Of all the earth s sad and lonesome creatures, the most helpless is he who loves not his fellowmen. Please rise and join me in recognizing our newest Paul Harris Fellow.

Remarks for Paul Harris Fellow Presentation When Recipient is NOT the Donor (three members present) (Bring the three presenters up the podium area, then invite the person who is being honored) Presenter/Foundation Chair: The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundation's way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. Member 1: It is named for our founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905. Member 2: Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of The Rotary Foundation. Today we have the honor and pleasure of recognizing as he/she becomes a Paul Harris Fellow. Member 3: was designated to receive this recognition as a special expression of appreciation from.

Presenter/Foundation Chair: A world of peace and good will comes closer to reality today as becomes a Paul Harris Fellow. It is because of gifts like the one made in 's honor that The Rotary Foundation is able to carry out an array of programs that achieve beneficial changes in our world: Member 1: improved living conditions throughout the world; Member 2: increased food production in impoverished countries; Member 3: better education, especially for women and girls; Member 1: wider availability of treatment and rehabilitation for the sick and disabled so they can better support themselves; Member 2: new channels for the flow of international understanding between people, and countries; Member 3: and brighter hopes for peace throughout the world. Presenter/Foundation Chair: A contribution to The Rotary Foundation is an investment in the ideal of good will, peace and understanding. That is an ideal held high by Rotarians the world over, and one that clearly shares. As Rotary works

with such individuals of good will, we believe the ideal will become a reality. It gives us great pleasure,, to present these emblems of appreciation given to each Paul Harris Fellow: Your certificate, (pause), (Past President hands to him/her) Your medallion, (pause), (Presenter/Foundation Chair puts around 's neck (if this is part of the presentation. Not all Clubs purchase these. Be sure to check ahead of time!!) And the Paul Harris pin, (pause), (Presenter pins on the person being honored. We heartily congratulate you and thank you for your commitment to Rotary Foundation programs.

Multiple Paul Harris Fellow Presentations The Trustees of The Rotary Foundation request that the club s Rotary Foundation chair make a tasteful presentation to the Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, with the support and the participation of the club president. Suggested Presentation Remarks The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to support the efforts of Rotary International in the fulfillment of the Object of Rotary, Rotary International s mission, and the achievement of world understanding and peace through local, national, and international humanitarian, educational and cultural programs. The programs of The Rotary Foundation include an array of projects that save and invigorate the lives of people around the world and enhance international friendship and understanding. Foundation programs provide food, potable water, health care, immunizations, shelter, and educational opportunities for millions of persons. Differentiating Rotary from many other organizations, these activities are funded, implemented and managed by Rotarians and Rotary clubs around the globe. We have long recognized Rotarians who contribute to The Rotary Foundation, the arm of Rotary International, which receives and disburses funds that support our cause of increasing world understanding and peace. We recognize them in many ways. Those who contribute a minimum of $100 per year are recognized as Sustaining Members. In this club were sustaining members last year. At such time as their contributions total $1,000 they are recognized as Paul Harris Fellows, in honor of Rotary s founder, and we present them with a certificate, a special pin and a medallion. We now have over 1 million Paul Harris Fellows. Becoming a Paul Harris Fellow, however, is a milestone, not a destination. We ask those who become Paul Harris Fellows to continue supporting The Rotary Foundation and we recognize them as Multiple Paul Harris Fellows at such time as they contribute an additional $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. With each additional $1,000 they are presented with a pin with a stone, either a sapphire or ruby, indicating the total level of their contributions. In our club we have members who have been previously recognized for such contributions. At such time as their total contribution is $10,000 they are recognized as Major Donors with a pin with a diamond and a special crystal. Rotarians may also name another individual as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow; someone who previously became a Paul Harris Fellow through personal gifts or whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of The Rotary Foundation, through the use of recognition points in denominations of 1,000 or more. Our support of The Rotary Foundation is what makes possible Group Study Exchanges, Ambassadorial Scholarships, World Peace Scholarships, and, for the last several years, the effort to eradicate Polio. Through the Matching Grant program our contributions also fund a host of smaller projects. Did you know, for instance? That $1,000 provides cataract operations for 30 blind individuals in India. That $1,000 provides textbooks for 10 elementary schools in Zambia. That $1,000 provides a hearing aid for 10 deaf children in Pakistan. The list could go on but our support of The Rotary Foundation can truly make life-changing differences. (continued) The Rotary Foundation 2007-2008 Training
