The Color Guard is in need of heavy duty bobby pins in all sizes. We have some girls with some thick hair and it took everything we had to keep those golden age hair styles up. Please put them in the band room with Molly Gassel s name on them. Thank you!! Looking for more people to help with uniforms and alterations. Note from Matt McCurley - Hi all! We need to make some adjustments to the guard uniforms, and have someone who is volunteering to help with the sewing. This may be a 2 week process depending on when we can get the materials and how many people help. If you can help during the week, please contact Patricia at 803-818-1180. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Clear Bag/Stadium Bag Policy: Parents, Rose Grey (Booster VP and Band Store Chair) has spoken with BOA and was informed that there will be strict adherence to the clear bag policy in Atlanta and Indy. They hadn't yet confirmed with Winston-Salem. BOA also confirmed that chaperones, Pit Crew, and students who re-enter the stadium will need to follow this policy as well. To make our lives a bit easier, the Band Store has purchased clear messenger bags and string backpacks that follow the size restrictions. They can be purchased on Thursday evenings when the store opens at 8:30. Or there is always the gallon size zip lock bag you can send with your kid. BOA Winston Salem Call time itinerary for Saturday is on the next page. Tickets are on sale at the gate. Grace s Corner (abbreviated high points from last week). It is imperative that you are taking care of yourself. That means eating healthy, properly hydrating every day (especially during rehearsals), and taking vitamins/emergenc if you feel yourself becoming sick. If you have been sitting out during rehearsals, be sure that you are doing everything in your power to heal as quickly as possible (taking proper medications, using braces/wraps as needed, etc.) Schoolwork is extremely important, but so is sleep! Be sure to get a decent amount of sleep each night, and avoid any situations in which you could get injured. Take care of yourself, we need you! SECRET PAL - if you have signed up, you must bring something for your pal on each competition day. We don't want anyone to be left out or forgotten! Gift suggestions: Extra black socks, Bobby pins, Hair ties, Disposable mini tooth brushes, Bus snacks, Travel pillow, Small blankets, Earbuds, Encouraging notes, Card games Wednesdays are the perfect time to catch up on school work and sleep, and to get yourself ready for an epic Thursday rehearsal. Some things to keep in mind today: Do you have plenty of extra reeds (in good condition)? If not, work out a plan to get some now and avoid a Friday night emergency. How confident are you with all of the body/movement? Get in front of a mirror and take advantage of time away from the rest of the band to become rock solid. Strive to be the best one in your file! Practice show music! Performance etiquette It is extremely important that we are the most courteous band in the audience and that every band has the opportunity to perform for a respectful audience! That means no talking during performances, clapping when appropriate, and cheering on/congratulating other bands when we see them. Also, parents, this one's for you! Please do not hesitate to clap and show your appreciation during moments of our show that excite you! We are working very hard to produce a show that is engaging for the audience, so it is completely okay to clap in the middle of movements- it makes us want to perform better! As we move through the season, professional videos will become available and will be shared on this page, so I encourage you to enjoy the show in the moment instead of focusing on recording live. You, too, should stand and/or clap for other bands. Thank you!
