20th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHILD TRAUMA RESEARCH PROGRAM Attachment and Trauma in Early Childhood: Embracing the Family in Clinical Practice, Research, and Public Policy MISSION BAY CONFERENCE CENTER at UCSF San Francisco, CA JANUARY 29, 2016 This course presents national and international figures in clinical research, clinical practice, and public policy involving young children exposed to interpersonal trauma in their family relationships. They will present research findings and clinical practice information as well as examples of public policy initiatives and recommendations to address the identified practice gaps. TARGET AUDIENCE Pediatricians Pyschiatrists Psychologists MFTs LCSWs Child Custody Evaluators Day Care and Social Service Providers Family Court Lawyers and Employees EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES An attendee completing this course should be able to: Provide research findings illustrating the role of fathers in healthy early child attachments and development and the negative child outcomes associated with father absence and father perpetration of family violence; Identify the effects of interpersonal trauma and chronic disruption in father-mother-child relationships on the child's development and mental health; Incorporate treatment strategies based on research findings and theoretical premises for clinical work with traumatized children, including involvement of fathers in treatment; Describe community-based programs that are based on best clinical practice and scientific knowledge; Utilize regional and national public health initiatives to address child exposure to interpersonal family violence and other traumas. ACCREDITATION The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Marriage & Family Therapists: This course meets the qualifications for 6.25 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Science.. Marriage & Family Therapists: California Board of Behavioral Science rules apply. See Licensed Clinical Social Workers. This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly, Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency. Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. Psychology: This educational activity is recognized by the California Board of Psychology as meeting the continuing education requirements toward license renewal for California psychologists. Psychologists are responsible for reporting their own attendance to the California Board of Psychology. Child Custody Evaluators: The course outline or agenda for this training has been approved as corresponding to subject areas specified in California Rules of Court, rule 5.225(e)(1)-(21).
