CHS Mission Statement: Our mission is to prepare our students to serve their communities and to commit to life-long learning CHS Corp of Cadets Mission Statement: Our mission is to develop our leadership skills and our core value system to improve our individual academics, the culture of our academic environment, and to ultimately serve our community while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Purpose of CHS Cavalier Cadets: The purpose of CHSCC is to invite young males and females to belong to a program that will greatly enhance personal leadership qualities and capabilities through the implementation of the United States Army CORE VALUE system (LDRSHIP) and the United States Army Training and Doctrine curriculum (TRADOC). Objective: Facts/Concepts/Skills: SWBAT (students will be able to) Understand and put into action citizenship and leadership roles. Learn (LDRSHIP) Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. Learn how to hold themselves and others accountable for their actions. Acquire proficiency in basic military skills (such as drill and ceremonies, first aid, and map reading) that are necessary for working effectively as a member of a team. Learn the importance of diet and of physical fitness in maintaining good health and appearance Work to enhance their personal academic experience & future scholastic endeavors.

Learn about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of mental management, including goal setting and positive self-esteem. Pupil Performance Objectives/Goals: Ohio Content Standards: SWBAT Graduate from high school. Students will develop and hone leadership skills. Achieve positive self-esteem and winning behavioral concepts in a culturally diverse society. Generate a sense of patriotism and love for our country. Learn the ability to think logically and to communicate effectively, with emphasis on effective oral communication. Focus on mission objectives and perform daily duties in a responsible manner. Participate in physical training under the leadership of a highly trained cadre of instructors. Course Expectations: This program has an extremely high set of expectations. Students must have an excellent work ethic and must accept the challenge of higher level thinking. Students must have organizational skills. All activities and duties will ultimately be performed in a military manner with a high degree of integrity and professionalism. Poor academic performance and lack of respect will result in the cadet s automatic removal from the program if progress of improvement is not demonstrated in a timely manner. Knowledge Physical fitness Motivation/Initiative Grading: Each member of the CHS Cavalier Corps of Cadets will be evaluated by the Teacher and by the Cadre/Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs). CHS TENTATIVE Course Schedule **This is an overview of what will be covered in the CHS Corps of Cadets Program at CHS for the school year. Although, the intent would be to follow this plan verbatim, this year s tentative schedule is subject to change (at the teacher s and Non Commissioned Officer's discretion). 1st 9 Weeks: Becoming a Leader: Basic Knowledge Phase I Weeks 1-3: Overview Syllabus and Program Expectations; In-depth discussion and indoctrination into program. Introduction to Physical Training (PT). Establishment of Short-Term and Long-Term Goals. Cadet and Cadre Biographical Data Presented. Academic Review. Weeks 4-6: The History of the United States Army, General Orders, CORE VALUES. Establishment of Short-Term and Long-Term Goal. Initial Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) graded by Ms.(SGT)Waterbury/Cadre. Drug and Substance Awareness Training Weeks 7-9: United States Army Rank Structure. Academic Review Status. Drill and Ceremony (D&C 2nd 9 Weeks: Becoming a Leader: Character Development Phase II Weeks 1-3: Thanksgiving; Basic Knowledge Reinforced and Reviewed; Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) Modified. Drill and Ceremony Continued. Weeks 4-6: Christmas; Degree of Physical Training Increases. Drill and Ceremony Continued. Weeks 7-9: United States Army Drill and Ceremony; Academic Review Status. Drill and Ceremony Continued. CHSCC REVIEW 3rd 9 Weeks: Becoming a Leader: Team Building Phase III Weeks 1-3: Basic Knowledge Reinforced and Reviewed; APFT (Modified) Weeks 4-6: Introduction to Land Navigation Weeks 7-9: Personal and Team Accountability Training; Academic Review Status 4th 9 Weeks: Becoming a Leader: Sharpening the Sword Phase IV

Weeks 1-3: Basic Knowledge Reinforced and Reviewed; Physical Training Status Review APFT (Modified) Weeks 4-6: CHSCC Skill Set Evaluation NCOs and Ms. Waterbury. Final Academic Review. Weeks 7-9: CHSCC PERSONNEL REVIEW United States Army Non- Commissioned Officers Cadre. Assignments/Presentations: Take an exam on each area of military instruction. Career Passport: Resume ** During this course, 85% will be military based education. This will include the teaching of military regulations, military history, rank structure, drill and ceremony, land navigation, and Physical Fitness Readiness. 15% will be dedicated towards Academic Readiness. This will be consisted of reviews of current grades, addressing academic issues, going over a pyramid of how to be an effective leader, and enhancing skills to encourage future educational thinking.
