Military Medical Student Assciatin (MMSA) Cnstitutin Article 1: Name Military Medical Student Assciatin (MMSA) Article 2: Purpse a) Its primary missin is t supprt current military cntract students by: Prviding a netwrk f cmmunicatin t all military medical students regarding Officer Basic Curses (OBC), summer Active Duty Trainings (ADT), military residencies/fellwships, and helpful infrmatin pertaining t each branch's Health Prfessinal Schlarship Prgram (HPSP) Prviding Physical Training (PT) t prepare students fr summer ADT rtatins, t prmte camaraderie, and t gauge physical perfrmance with a PT test each semester Facilitating a Military Dctr Mentr Prgram where students can shadw lcal physicians with military experience t gain helpful insight n their future career Hsting ccasinal dinners fr MMSA members/spuses at Military Mentr's hmes and include discussins such as "Military Medicine", "Specific Specialties", "Military Medical Training", and "Military Spuse Issues" frm keynte speakers b) Its secndary missin includes: Incrprate Nursing and Allied Health Students in ur activities, particularly thse with military cntracts/interests since we will be wrking tgether as future team players in the military heath care system Act as a surce f infrmatin fr thse thinking f jining the military healthcare team Prmte esprit de crps thrugh varius grup activities thrughut the year Participate in service prjects each semester in the schl and lcal cmmunity
Article 3: Requirements f Membership Regular membership in the MMSA is t be pen t thse military medical students wh have paid current dues. Nn-military students may jin if expressing an interest in military medicine. Article 4: Officers The Officers f the MMSA will cnsist f the President, Vice President, and Treasurer. The duties f each are utlined in the Bylaws, Article 1. Membership dues will be cllected n an annual basis. The amunt f the dues will be set by the Executive Cmmittee with the advice f the Treasurer. Article 5: Cmmittees The MMSA Executive Cmmittee cnsists f the President, Vice President, and Treasurer. Other cmmittees may be created, as needed, by the President with the apprval f the Executive Cmmittee. Article 6: Meetings General membership meetings will be held at the directin f the Executive Cmmittee. The Executive Cmmittee will cnvene when deemed necessary by the Executive Cmmittee members. Article 7: Vting Fr any vting situatin, a simple majrity vte is required t pass the mtin r elect the fficial in questin. In the event that a vte is needed n a particular issue, the Vice President will infrm absent vting members f the issue at hand and recrd that absent member s vte. Vting may be perfrmed via email. a) Officer Electins Only military cntract members with current dues paid may vte in fficer electins. b) Executive Cmmittee Vte Only the President, Vice President, and Treasurer may vte. c) General Member Vte Any member, military cntract r nt, with current dues paid may vte.
Article 8: Advisr The MMSA advisr shall be a full-time faculty r staff f Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, preferably a physician with military experience. The advisr will be available t fficers and members fr cnsultatin abut the rganizatin affairs, t attend rganizatinal meetings and functins when pssible, t ffer suggestins regarding the peratins f the MMSA, and t versee the adherence t TTUHSC regulatins and the rganizatin s cnstitutin and bylaws. Article 9: Activities Activities f the rganizatin include, but are nt limited t, general membership meetings, educatinal frums fr members, and ther activities as directed by the Executive Cmmittee. Article 10: Parlimentary Authrity Rbert s Rules f Order Newly Revised will be used during fficial meetings. Article 11: Amendments Any fficer f the MMSA Executive Cmmittee may prpse an amendment t the MMSA Cnstitutin. An amendment must be passed by a simple majrity f the vting members f the Cmmittee.

All elected fficers will serve a cmplete year starting frm May f the electin t the end f the fllwing academic year. Chapter President a) Insure that the chapter meets the gals stated in the lcal Cnstitutin. b) Serve as a vting member f the Executive Cmmittee. c) Serve as pint f cntact between natinal rganizatins and affiliates. d) Serve as pint f cntact fr utside individuals and grups n the lcal level. e) Crdinate activities f his r her lcal chapter. f) Oversee the creatin f lcal chapter Cnstitutin and fficer psitins, with guidance frm the Vice President. g) Serve as a vting member f the Executive Cmmittee. h) Perfrm ther duties as needed. Vice President a) Assume duties f the President in his r her absence. b) Ensure that the Treasurer and special cmmittee chair peple fulfill their respnsibilities as utlined in this article. c) Assist the President as needed. d) Implement the reslutins f the Executive Cmmittee. e) Serve as a vting member f the Executive Cmmittee. f) Present reprts f current status changes regarding membership. g) Crdinate recruiting effrts with the President t maximize student membership in the MMSA. h) Oversee the Military Dctr Mentr Prgram. Secretary/Treasurer a) Open all mail and E-mail, and frward mail t apprpriate Executive Member. b) Serve as a vting member f the Executive Cmmittee c) Keep a file f all crrespndence t the rganizatin. d) Maintain Physical Training waivers fr all members. e) Take Minutes at Executive meetings, save, and pst in an apprpriate frmat that all members can access. e) Maintain financial recrds, depsit funds int MMSA bank accunts, and mnitr all financial transactins f the MMSA gverning bdy. f) Pay debts f the rganizatin fr affairs as deemed apprpriate by the Executive Cmmittee.
g) Prepare end f the year financial reprts fr the MMSA Budget Reprts file. h) Keep an attendance recrd fr all activities President-Elect The President-Elect is the elected President fr the upcming academic year as determined by electins held in May. The President-Elect will crdinate with newly elected fficers t plan the upcming year under the guidance f current fficers until their term expires.
