HAMMERS OF SÃO JOÃO 18 CONTEST FUNDAÇÃO MILLENNIUM BCP AWARDS Article 1 (Object) 1. The Hammers of São João 18 Contest is an initiative of the Youth Foundation (Fundação da Juventude) organized in partnership with the Porto City Council, through Porto Lazer and with the support of the Millennium bcp Foundation. 2. It aims to encourage the participation of all citizens in the interpretation of the theme of the São João festivities, through the reinvention of the traditional Plastic Hammer of São João. 3. The recreation mentioned in the previous paragraph provides a reflection on tradition and customs, gastronomy, places and people. 4. The Hammers selected in this competition will be presented in an exhibition, referred to later in these Contest Rules. 5. The participation in this Contest, by submitting a proposal, implies the full acceptance of the conditions set forth in the Contest Rules. 6. It is already safeguarded the possibility of the Youth Foundation being able to use the proposals of the hammers selected for merchandising purposes. 7. The use of the selected and winning proposals for the purposes set out in these Contest Rules does not confer on the respective author(s) the right to any supplementary benefits of a pecuniary or other nature, constituting the copyright originally in the legal sphere of the Youth Foundation and the Millennium bcp Foundation. Article 2 (Recipients) 1. Citizens of all ages, Portuguese and foreign, may apply for the Hammers of São João Contest. 2. Those who will not be able to apply for this Contest: a) Persons belonging to the staff and governing bodies of the organizing and sponsoring entities, as well as the spouses, ascendants and descendants of these; b) All relatives and relatives in direct line of the members of the Jury.

Article 3 (Conditions of participation) 1. Applications may be submitted individually or collectively (co-authors); 2. Each candidate or group of candidates may submit a maximum of three proposals for the hammers in the contest. 3. If the application is made by a group, the spokesperson must be identified for communication purposes with the organizing entities; 4. Applicants are responsible for the originality of the submitted proposal, they guarantee their authorship and assume all responsibility for any third-party claims related to copyright and related rights. Article 4 (Essential requirements for proposals to the Object, 2D and Video categories) 1. The submitted proposals for the Hammers must be original. 2. The candidate proposals must contain an obvious reference to the hammer of São Hoão, whether in the graphic elements, in the general silhouette, the inclusion of hammers, etc.; 3. The Hammer proposals must comply with the basic silhouette (Annex 1) in the form attached to this Regulation, with a maximum dimension of 40 cm in length in the case of the category 2D; and no more than 1 meter in length for the OBJECT category. The base silhouette can be simplified or altered according to the style of each author, but it is fundamental that the hammer of São João is not mistaken with any other hammer. The basic silhouette of the shape of the Hammer of São João is available at www.fjuventude.pt and http://martelinhos.fjuventude.pt. 4. The Hammer proposals should take into account subsequent use in communication materials, be it in the orientation issue (the hammers must be versatile in the sense of having a horizontal and vertical reading), or in the matter of visibility (the hammers will be used in a way to allow its reading at a distance of at least 10 meters). Solutions should also be presented to create a pattern, in the A3 format (which can be replicated to areas above A3), suitable for use in the creation of São João s decorative supports, such as flags. 5. The hammer proposals can be carried out in manual or digital techniques, in the following terms: a) hammer proposals in manual techniques three-dimensional object, must be delivered in a format up to 1 m OBJECT CATEGORY;

b) digital hammer proposals must be submitted in JPEG, EPS or PDF format, with a resolution of 300 dpi and a length of 40 cm in this category, hammer proposals are also valid in manual techniques, on paper/paperboard, collage, painting or photography 2D CATEGORY. c) VIDEO CATEGORY Proposals for the Video category should be developed on the theme Hammer, why do I want you?, and should include versions to be released online in the following social media: facebook and instagram (minimum 10 ' and maximum 60 ). Video submissions should be provided in MPEG / MPG or MOV file (maximum 50 MB), in the following format 851 px (width) x 315 px (height). The proposals for the Hammers of São João cannot contain any element identifying their author(s), nor make reference to trademarks or logos. d) The submitted hammer proposal must be accompanied by the Application Form and the Declaration attached to this Regulation duly completed and signed by the Declarant in the contest. Article 5 (Method and place of delivery of proposals for the OBJECT, 2D and VIDEO categories) 1. Applications may be submitted in one of the following ways: a) 2D AND VIDEO CATEGORY Digitally, in the application process opened on the website www.fjuventude.pt and http://martelinhos.fjuventude.pt; hammer proposals in manual techniques, on paper/paperboard, collage, painting or photography, must follow the same procedure of submission of the Object Category, described below; b) OBJECT CATEGORY Compulsory registration in the application process opened on the website www.fjuventude.pt and http://martelinhos.fjuventude.pt, with the inclusion of a hammer photo that must be delivered in person or by registered mail and must contain the following information: Concurso Martelinhos de São João 18 Palácio das Artes Fábrica de Talentos Largo de S. All applications submitted by registered mail containing a stamp of dispatch from CTT within the period established in the regulation are considered valid. 3. The applications must be handed in by 6pm on May 28, 2018 (final date for proposal submission). 4. In the application process of minors, the registration on the site must be done in his/her name, and the person in charge of his/her education must be identified in the section specified for that. 5. Applications sent by email are not considered valid.

Article 6 (Stages of the contest Object, 2D and Video categories) This competition comprises the following stages: a) Selection by the Jury of the competition for a short list with a maximum of 250 (two hundred and fifty) proposals for hammers; b) Classification by the Jury of the competition, among the short list proposals, of the 3 (three) winning proposals for the attribution of the Millennium bcp Foundation awards mentioned in Article 9. The 250 (two hundred and fifty) proposals of selected hammers will participate in an Exhibition, to integrate the program of exhibitions of the Youth Foundation / Palace of the Arts Talent Factory, in Porto, from 7 to 30 June, as well as use them in their communication materials. 1. The Jury will consist of the following elements: Article 7 (Jury of the competition) a. A representative of the Youth Foundation; b. A representative of PortoLazer, Porto City Council; c. A representative of the Millennium bcp Foundation; d. Three professionals in the field of visual arts, design, and video, to be designated by the Youth Foundation, by Porto Lazer, and by the Millennium bcp Foundation. 2. It is for the Jury of the competition exclusively to define the methodology and criteria to be used in the evaluation of the proposals to be selected. 3. The decisions of the Jury of the competition are taken by majority, without appeal or complaint. Article 8 (Evaluation criteria for the Object, 2D and Video categories) 1. The most important factor for the awarding of prizes is the creative and innovative concept of how the proposals presented interpret the theme of the São João festivities, reflecting the tradition, gastronomy, places and people of the city of Porto. 2. Only original proposals will be accepted and the intellectual property belongs to the candidate(s).

1. The following monetary awards shall be granted: a) Objects category: 1st prize: 1.000,00 (one thousand euros); 2nd prize: 500,00 (five hundred euros). Article 9 (Millennium bcp Foundation awards) b) 2D category: 1st prize: 1.000,00 (one thousand euros); 2nd prize: 500,00 (five hundred euros). c) Video category: 1st prize: 1.000,00 (one thousand euros); 2nd prize: 500,00 (five hundred euros). 2. The Object, 2D and Video categories will be awarded upon presentation of a declaration by the candidate who is identified as the Declarant in the application form. 1. The contest calendar is the following: 1.1. Object, 2D and Video categories Article 10 (Competition calendar and promotion) a) Final date for submission of proposals: May 28, 2018; the applications will be considered valid as soon as they are submitted until 11.59pm on the referred date, or delivered by hand until 6pm on that date; b) Deadline for disclosure of winning proposals resulting from the selection of the Jury and the selected proposals for the Exhibition: May 30, 2018. 2. The winners (of the Millennium bcp Foundation awards) will be informed by email or telephone. 3. The candidates of the 250 (two hundred and fifty) proposals selected for the Exhibition will be informed through Facebook and the Youth Foundation website. 4. The winning proposals will be open to the public at the exhibition to be inaugurated on June 7, 2018, at Palácio das Artes Fábrica de Talentos, in Porto.

Article 11 (Returns of the non-awarded Hammers) 1. Proposals that have not been selected to participate in the Exhibition may be collected by the respective candidates, together with the documentation, until September 28, 2018, from 9:30am to 6pm at: Palácio das Artes Largo São Domingos, 19 4050-265 Porto 2. Proposals not collected within the period provided for in the preceding paragraph shall remain the property of the Youth Foundation. 3. Proposals selected for participation in the Exhibition can not be collected by the candidates until the end of the Exhibition. 4. The originals of the winning proposals are owned by the Youth Foundation. Article 12 (Queries) 1. Any questions about the interpretation of this Regulation should be sent to the e-mail address: concursomartelinhos@fjuventude.pt. 2. The resolution of omitted situations is the sole responsibility of the Youth Foundation, the Millennium bcp Foundation and Porto Lazer, Porto City Council and will be disclosed by these entities by means deemed convenient.

I have freely read and accepted each and every one of the rules provided for in this Regulation; 2. The ideas and concepts presented in the application are original and come from me and my colleagues and (in case it is a group work); 3. I accept that the organization uses the proposal for merchandising purposes in any ways that the organizing entities find appropriate, if it is one of the winning proposals. 4. I comply with all the deadlines in this Regulation, under sanction of any penalties to be decided by the Jury of this competition.
