Calling all Students Win $1,000 in Grants to Implement Youth Service Project Ideas The Youth Summit experience at this year s Conference on Volunteering and Service will be led by generationon, the youth division of Points of Light, and will empower young people to identify community issues, become problem solvers and take action to make a difference. We are lking for 10 teams of young people in the greater Seattle area to pitch volunteer project ideas for a chance to win up to $1,000 in grants! The sponsoring organization will implement the project in partnership with the youth team. Teams will pitch their ideas at the Youth Summit that will be held at Points of Light s Conference on Volunteering and Service at the Washington State Convention Center on June 20, from 3:00 5:30 pm! Fifty students (ages 11-18) broken into teams will participate in an interactive leadership experience where they will research community issues, develop a project plan to support a local nonprofit or schl, and pitch their volunteer service project ideas to a panel of influencer judges. With the generous support of Target, grants will be awarded to implement the volunteer projects pitched, based on points received in the areas of: 1. Relevance 2. Creativity 3. Community Engagement 4. Planned Scope of Work 5. Defined Outcome 6. Sustainability If you are between the ages of 11-18 and want to be a part of this exciting pitch experience, complete the form by 5 p.m. PST on Friday, June 9, 2017. All individual applications must have a sponsoring 501(c)3 nonprofit organization or schl to qualify. Youth Summit Attendee Form Form Overview Thank you for your interest in applying to participate in Points of Light s Youth Summit on Tuesday, June 20 from 3-5:30 pm! With the generous support of Target, we invite you to complete interactive and engaging workshops to develop a service project that positively impacts your community. Your team will brainstorm ways to address a social issue important to you, develop a strong plan of action and craft a pitch to share your idea. Teams will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to win $250-$1,000 to implement your project. Applications must be completed by youth teams in partnership with a 501(c)3 organization or schl and clearly demonstrate how youth will lead and/or be engaged to complete the service projects. If a team is awarded funding to complete their project, the 501(c)3 organization/schl will need to accept the funding on the team s behalf. A representative from the agency or schl must attend the award ceremony on June 20, 2017. Eligibility Requirements To be eligible to participate in Points of Light Youth Summit, youth must: Be affiliated with and sponsored by a 501(c)3 organization/schl. Be part of a team of youth, who will participate in the Summit. Be between the ages of 11 and 18. Provide their own transportation to the Youth Summit in Seattle, WA. Project Requirements All projects must be completed by Saturday, October 28, 2017. All post-grant reports must be submitted by Friday, November 10, 2017. Recipients will be awarded grants between $250 and $1,000. Each level of grant has the following requirements: Grants of $250 must engage a minimum of 10 volunteers. Grants of $500 must engage a minimum of 20 volunteers. Grants of $1,000 must engage a minimum of 50 volunteers. Applications will be accepted until Friday, June 9 at 5pm PST. Decisions will be sent via email on Monday, June 12 to all participants.
