OUR WEAKNESSES Some areas appear run down We have perception problems regarding GISD, crime and ongoing investment in the city infrastructure Our housing inventory is limited and some inventory is in poor condition Some think we are further from the Metroplex than we are Desire for there to be more local high paying jobs
What did we learn? OUR OPPORTUNITIES Capitalize on our location on I-35, on the path of growth in Texas Attract more businesses to Gainesville Continue to build on our quality of life with improvements/expansions of parks, our downtown businesses, locally owned restaurants and cultural events Strengthen our business community and ability to work together to increase opportunities Correct misperceptions through consistent marketing and messaging OUR THREATS Inability to engage citizens to want to grow or change Perception of a good ole boys club that does not embrace input from others Perception of high crime or if high crime becomes a reality Inability to cause improvements to the historic downtown and housing to improve run down areas. Inability to invest in infrastructure to improve roads, bridges and mobility
