Don t Even Think About It! These may get you sent home immediately at your expense and you will lose end of year privileges: Drugs, smoking, alcohol, weapons Leaving hotel room Going off alone Inappropriate relations General nuisance - repeated redirections

Preparing to Go Dress appropriately (see dress guidelines) Coordinate medication and allergies with nurse Leave these at home! (drugs, alcohol, tobacco/smoking/vaping products, weapons, joke items, unapproved electronics) Parents - check bags and complete bag check form. If signed form is not presented at boarding, bag will be checked by staff.

Dress Guidelines Dress comfortably Comfortable shoes - lots of walking, no sandals/heels/flip flops on tours Dress respectfully You will be representing our community Dress responsibly Be prepared - it might rain, get cool at night and be sunny/hot during the day

What to Pack Casual/comfortable clothes Business attire (wear something nice) for Capitol Hill visit Good walking shoes Hat, sunglasses Toiletries Umbrella or rain jacket Pajamas spending/souvenir money - also for food at rest area stops All participants will receive an ID, backpack, notebook and water bottle

Medical Complete Close Up medical questionnaire and consent for treatment forms Copy of medical insurance card (both sides) Complete HWRSD health forms and permission for treatment Coordinate with nurse for medication and allergies All forms need to be turned into MRMS office by May 10th

Medications on the Trip Available Medications Acetaminophen Ibuprofen Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) Motion sickness medication Tums Antibiotic ointment Hydrocortisone Calamine lotion Anbesol

Avoid Unnecessary Medication Please hold any non-essential medications if at all possible Examples: Multivitamins Supplements Acne antibiotics

If Medication is Needed You will need to provide: A physician s signed order for the medication Your written consent for the medication Delivery of the amount of medication needed for the trip, in a labelled pharmacy container delivered by the parent - NOT THE STUDENT All Forms and Medications must be delivered to the Health Office by May 23rd

Three Groups Bus group - 2 buses Close Up group - ~22 students- 4 groups Hotel room group - 4 students per room *Your bus, close-up and hotel groups will probably have different mixes of students

Group Selection You will be asked for the names of 3 friends you would like to be with We will do our best to get at least one friend in your room and Close Up group Group Leaders have final say and may make adjustments

Electronics Personal cell phones, music players with headphones and cameras may be brought No game systems, laptops, ipads/tablets, stereos, other electronic devices School acceptable use policy applies Students assume all risk and responsibility for electronics. We will not return to a location for a lost device.

Electronics Cell phones/cameras may be used at appropriate times for: Taking pictures of sights and friends Listening to music with headphones (during down time) Communicating with parents Cell phones/cameras may not be used: During meetings/group instruction (up time) Anywhere not allowed (if posted in museums/congress) If instructed by an adult (No Arguments!)

Electronics Any violation will result in device being held by Principal and given to parent upon return. It will be available for supervised calls home. Parents who wish to limit electronics use may utilize parental controls through their carrier or choose not to send them.

The Bus 3 busses - Bus 1+2-2 groups; Bus 3-1 group Stopping twice each way Restroom on board TV with DVD players may be available

On the Bus Remain silent when microphone is in use Clean up after yourselves Boys and girls not seated directly next to each other Snacks are OK but don t make a mess (no peanuts or caffeine drinks) PG-13 DVDs may be brought Headphones must be worn with personal electronics Be respectful of the bus restroom

While Touring Be respectful to everyone Notify chaperones of any concerns immediately Wear Close Up ID/lanyard at all times Do not leave personal items unattended Be on time - your tardiness could result in entire group missing something Show respect for the sites you visit

Meals Notify Close Up and nurse of any food allergies in advance (before the trip) Be orderly - no need to rush Clean up!

Accommodations We will be staying at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town Four students per room - two queen beds You must be up for breakfast at 7:15 and ready to travel at departure time

At the Hotel You must be in assigned room at room check and may not leave A monitor will be in the hallway if you need anything Be quiet and respectful while entering/exiting hotel and in elevators You must remain on your floor. No visiting/vending machines. No yelling out windows or going on balconies (if present) Boys/girls on different floors. No visiting other floors. Students are responsible for any room damages.

How will I use this experience to prepare me for high school and beyond?
