April 8, 2014 Leadership Night Summary The Master Planning Committee hosted a planning exercise during the April 8, 2014 Leadership Night. A parish Barbecue Cook-Off for October 4, 2014. The Parish Fair is scheduled for November 14 th. Father Than reported on the results of the Worship Commission survey. St. Aloysius is actively looking for musicians to serve at the 5:30 p.m. mass. A parttime assistant is being considered to provide some assistance for Ken Thevenet. The Parish is also seeking a good, dynamic choir director for the 5:30 mass to organize and work with the youth in our Parish. The focus of the May Leadership Night will be discernment of commission cochairs and new Pastoral Council members. Orientation of new leadership will take place on August 23, 2014. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH MINUTES OF THE PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING April 8, 2014 Attendance: All Council members were present, with the exception of Patrick Goldsmith and Anne Leibowitz. Frank Endom opened the meeting with a centering prayer. The Pastoral Council reviewed the Master Planning Exercise held during Leadership Night. Council members agreed that there was widespread participation that bought wonderful suggestions for future planning for the Parish. Additional issues brought to the Council included a request to consider posting mass times near the entrances to the church to assist parishioners and visitors. This is being referred to the Worship Commission. The Community Life Commission also requested assistance with a Family Life event that was proposed. A Parish Barbecue Cook-Off family event for October 4, 2014 was suggested. The Council noted that the St. Aloysius Parish Fair is scheduled for November 14 th. Father Than advised the Council that the results of the Worship Commission survey were reviewed and several ideas were accepted. There is currently a challenge to hire musicians to serve at the 5:30 p.m. mass. A part-time assistant is being considered to provide some relief for Ken Thevenet. The parish will also be seeking a good, dynamic choir director for the 5:30 mass someone that can draw in young people and utilize their talents. The focus of the May Leadership Night will be discernment of commission cochairs and new Pastoral Council members. Council members were asked to advise the Council co-chairs if there are any scheduling conflicts with the August 16, 2014 Council Retreat. Orientation of new leadership will take place on August 23, 2014. Additional plans are being considered to improve communication with council, commission and staff resource at the upcoming retreat and orientation. The next Leadership Night will be on May 20 th at 6:15 p.m. The prayer service will be led by Social Responsibility and the social will be the provided by Spiritual Growth. Annual Guide Book & Directory Advertising Opportunity We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book & Directory for the Church. This book will be the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of our Congregation. The book is being provided at no cost to our Church, including the mailing to each family, and again is being subsidized by local businesses that advertise in it. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call the Church Office. Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser.
