2010 April Alumni Newsletter Andrew Kirkwood Embry-Riddle Chapter of Delta Chi

Letter from the "E" Dear Alumni Brothers, ANNOUNCEMENTS!! Anything from births, engagements and marriages, and even deaths will make the newsletter much better for all of the alumni to be engaged. As we draw closer to the end of the semester, the chapter is putting the rest of the time to good use. We will be having an event every weekend until the end of the semester and all local alumni are encourage to participate, time willing. Just give me or Chris Cowan a call if you are interested. I appreciate any and all input as to better keep you informed. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns you can reply to me at eraudchialumni@gmail.com or contact me directly at (407)493-7665 or kirkwooa@my.erau.edu. Their names are Julian Velazquez, Erik Butts, Leon D Lima, and Mark Lamberto. They have learned all of the background of the fraternity, both local and national and have proven that they have absorbed the material with enthusiasm. We feel the class is coming together well and are all a good addition to the chapter. -Athletics The Delta Chi soccer team fought hard this year and lost in the quarter finals to the eventual champions. It was my first season ever playing soccer and I hope next year we can find a real goalie. A short 4-on-4 football season is beginning next week as well as a 6-on-6 dodgeball season and we wish to bring a fresh trophy to the new house but I think they only give out t-shirts. -Brotherhood Tanner Cheek has been suggesting the chapter visit the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament in Orlando, Florida. Time permitting, we will try and fit it into the schedule for the remainder of the semester at minimum to no cost to the chapter. -House Contracts have been passed out to members of the fraternity and we all feel confident that the house will be finalized for next semester in the next few days. As more details come together, I will be sure to send out information as it comes my way. -National Convention The 2010 Convention will be held at the New Orleans Marriott August 11-August 15 in New Orleans, LA. 555 Canal Street New Orleans, LA 70130. The Embry-Riddle chapter has had a long standing

tradition of an excellent attendance to the convention and with that we also plan a special event for our chapter members. Look for future announcements for our special event on Friday August 13 th. Please send me an e-mail if you plan on attending convention. For hotel information follow this link to the Marriot website and receive a special room rate of $105 per night: New Orleans Marriot -Philanthropy With the National Convention coming up soon, the brothers really want to match our pledge of $2500 to the Jimmy V foundation. We plan on creating t-shirts for the Jimmy V Foundation for us to wear often and create awareness for the organization. We are also working on throwing a Delta Chi Beauty Pageant on campus in the Fall semester. Look for more details on how you can get involved and help us reach that goal. -Spring Formal We are throwing spring formal at the Daytona Beach Resort on April 10 th @ 9:00pm. All local alumni are cordially invited and you can speak with Tim Hauenstein who has spearheaded the event at (585)739-2172 or e-mail me back if you are planning on attending. -Upcoming Events Date Event Details April 10 th Formal Daytona Beach Resort, 9pm April 17 th Initiation Chapel on Campus April 24 th Preview Day We ll have a table out and talk to incoming freshmen April 24 th Tribal Themed Social all possibly attending -Active Brothers Last Name Baker Cheek Cowan Cruz Delano DeNucci Espinosa Gonchar Groseclose Hansen Hattala Hauenstein Henrard First Name Jon Tanner Christopher Frisco Brandin Justin Augusto Daniel Michael Brad Jordan Timothy Jereme
