NZPEM 2016 THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE AUSTRALASIAN COLLEGE OF PHYSICAL SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS IN MEDICINE (NEW ZEALAND BRANCH) INVITATION Dunedin members of the New Zealand Branch of the ACPSEM invite you to the annual NZPEM 2016 Conference to be held at The Hunter Centre, corner Great King and Frederick Street, Dept. of Health Sciences, University of Otago, Dunedin. The Hunter Centre is adjacent to Dunedin Hospital and the conference aims to start at 9.00am on Wednesday 23 rd November and will finish at 4:00pm on Thursday 24 th November. Registration will be available from 8:00 am on Wednesday. SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME Papers are invited on the following topics: Radiation therapy physics Radiation protection ionising and non-ionising Radiology and Medical Imaging Biomedical engineering Physiological monitoring Applications of engineering and physics to medicine Papers may be presented in general sessions (20 minutes duration including discussion time) or as part of a workshop. Workshops may operate in parallel for those topics where sufficient interest has been indicated. Participants are invited to suggest topics for workshops (in part or as a whole) and are encouraged to contribute to these forms of continuing medical education (see below) WORKSHOPS The workshops are intended to provide a forum for discussion of scientific, professional, regulatory and academic issues. The level of interest shown by registrants will determine the final choice of the workshops. If you have a particular topic you wish to discuss please indicate this on the enclosed registration form. Registrants are encouraged to submit discussion documents and/or make informal presentations to the workshops. Some possible workshop topics could relate to: Diagnostic Radiology and Mammography Radiation Safety Act 2016 TEAP Certification and Professional issues Emerging technologies e.g. VMAT, SBRT Quality Assurance & TG100
NZ Clinical Training Coordinator Workshop As part of the NZ CTC regular TEAP support activities a two day workshop will be running on the Monday and Tuesday before the conference. This is specifically for TEAP registrars but applications from interested medical physicists will be considered. Places are limited so a first in first served policy will be observed. The topics for the workshop are management principles and keeping up with the scientific literature. A detailed program is available from the NZ CTC, Bryn Currie (bryn.currie@cdhb.health.nz). CONFERENCE DINNER The Conference dinner event on Wednesday evening. ACCOMMODATION Delegates will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation. Some accommodation options within walking distance of the conference centre are listed in the table at the end of the application form. ABSTRACTS Information on the deadline and format of abstracts is on the next page. FEES For registrations received prior to 28 th October, the fee is $ 275, and includes morning and afternoon teas, lunches, conference dinner and a light breakfast on the Thursday morning prior to the ACPSEM NZ Branch AGM. For retired members and students the fee is reduced to $155. For registrations received after 28 th October the relevant fees will be $375 and $255 respectively. The discounted student registration fee does not include dinner. The conference dinner is free for retired members through sponsorship. The fee for accompanying persons to attend the conference dinner is $90. REGISTRATION A registration form is enclosed. ABSTRACT INSTRUCTIONS The authors should prepare their abstracts in accordance with these layout instructions to assure a uniform layout. All abstracts must be original work; The filename of the Word document should only contain alpha/numeric characters with no spaces; A total of two tables, graphs or images may be included in the body of your abstract. Images should be 300dpi and embedded in the word document.
