Be sure to ask for written verification that you have been able to successfully transmit claims. At the recent WVSMA Healthcare Summit, West Virginia DHHR Secretary Karen Bowling stated that West Virginia Medicaid is ready for ICD-10 and that all vendors and MCOs (Managed Care Organizations) have attested that they are ready. Secretary Bowling said that there are financial penalties for Medicaid vendors who are not ready. If you have additional questions, you may contact the Office of the DHHR. The WVSMA is doing additional training for ICD-10 on Tuesday, September 29th, with 2 specialty training sessions planned for Internal Medicine/Family Practice and Pediatrics.
