GRADUATE NURSING PROGRAM MASTER OF SCIENCE TRACKS PLAN FOR ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT LEARNING ACADEMIC YEARS 2016 2018 College: Program: College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines Graduate Nursing Program Master of Science Tracks Mission Statement: The mission of the College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is to prepare future leaders, to advance human well-being and improve quality of life for diverse populations, with an emphasis on rural communities in North Dakota, the region and beyond, through the provision of high-quality innovative inter-professional education, research, and service. The Graduate Nursing Program Master of Science Tracks Plan for Assessment of Student Learning will be utilized for the six Master of Science tracks and two post-master s certifications that are currently offered in the CNPD graduate nursing program. The plan outlines student learning outcomes and identifies benchmarks within the curriculum to gather evidence to support the completion of program outcomes. The Master of Science Tracks are: Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthesia, Advanced Public Health Nurse, Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Educator. GRADUATE NURSING PROGRAM PLAN FOR ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT LEARNING 2009-2010 ACADEMIC YEAR College: College of Nursing Program: Graduate Nursing Program Mission Statement: The mission of the College of Nursing is to educate individuals for professional roles in nursing and nutrition. The College strives to enhance the health of people in the region, the nation, and across the globe by preparing leaders in nursing and nutrition through innovative, accessible programs and significant faculty and student scholarship and service. There are currently six* Master of Science specializations, five post-master s certifications, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing offered in the graduate nursing program. Capstone projects include the thesis/non-thesis independent options at the master s level and the comprehensive examination and dissertation in the doctoral program. The Master of Science areas of specialization are Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthesia, Advanced Public Health Nurse, Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (NP), Gerontological CNS, Gerontological NP, and Nurse Educator. A nationally based certification examination is available for most of the specializations. *Two of the master s specializations, Health Administration and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Nursing Therapeutics, are not accepting applications for new admissions at the present time. These two specializations are in the evaluation process for continuance or discontinuance. 1
