A Letter from IES Planning Committee: Dear IES Sponsors, Supporters and Participants, The 2013 event was the best IES yet! We had 507 participants who migrated from 44 different countries and celebrated the birth of 115 new companies since our last event in November of 2012! Each year, we have the great honor of witnessing our previous attendees utilize the resources we provide at the seminars to become proud, new business owners in the state of Iowa! There were 507 participants from 44 countries. IES is very special and near to everyone s heart. From the heartfelt speech by Lt. Governor during the opening ceremony to inspiring personal stories of our award winners during the luncheon, and the 20 Practical Ways to Access Capital seminar, the togetherness of the IES mantra was undeniable and gave us all hope for a better tomorrow. We can never put into words how grateful we are for our sponsors and supporters! This year s success is the direct product of your every penny s investment in our event. Your tremendous support provides both motivation and inspiration that energizes our business-minded audience to reach their potential of becoming great business leaders and active contributors to the well-being of our community so thank you! 4 500 450 400 350 300 250 200 150 100 50 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 IES attendees from 2008 to 2013 2013 At the 2013 IES, there were 507 participants who migrated to Iowa from 44 countries. What attendees say... We congratulate the organizers of this year s Immigrant Entrepreneur Summit for another successful event. As a company dedicated to diversity and to helping small business owners, Wells Fargo appreciates the summit s focus on providing immigrant entrepreneurs the tools they need to launch and build their businesses. It matches our commitment to helping small business and diverse business owners succeed financially. Shane Zimmerman Des Moines Market President Wells Fargo Bank My favorite workshop was put on by Leng Vong Reiff touching on social media marketing. The mathematical equations behind the impact of social media marketing intrigued me. IES is a great facet for inspiration, networking, and useful information. Annie McDanel Student at Drake University Congratulations to 2013 IES Award Honorees! From left: Dr. Chirantan Ghosh, Dr. Mark Grey, Dr. Michele Devlin, Marco Miranda, Roberto Gomez, and Tej Dhawan Dear Mrs. Ying, Thank you so much for inviting me to attend the Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit. I am now much more motivated to set up my company. Also, please thank on my behalf to your list of sponsors who made the Summit possible once again... These are the kind of events that motivates the business development in our area... Thank you All... Well Done!!! With best Regards, Elmer Robert Luna Drake Transport I went to Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit. I enjoyed being around such great people like successful business people to great politicians to doctors and lawyers. I was inspired by governor s words and how he encouraged continued business creation in state of Iowa because this is the best place to start a small business. I witnessed alot of people who reached their goals and dreams; some of them are millionares and some of them were PHD. How can one not be motivated when they are at an event like this? I left with a hope knowing I can reach my goal. Not only that, but actual tools, in order to better my company, Des Moines Day Care LLC. Thanks a lot, IES. Abshir Mohamed IES is expanding to multiple locations within the State of Iowa. Come join us at these IES events and learn more about business and entrepreneurship!
