Bevill State Community College Part- Time Nursing Program Jasper Campus only Spring 2019 Admission Cohort Application Deadline : September 1, 2018

BEVILL STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE NURSING PROGRAM INFORMATION Dear Prospective Student: Nursing is an intense and demanding profession. At Bevill State, we believe to facilitate the application process we need to be very clear about what is required. With that in mind, please read the entire packet carefully as the application will not provide all the necessary documents for admission. Admission to the nursing program is based on a point system which is included in this packet. Students that meet qualifications and are not accepted are not placed on a waiting list. Students not accepted are required to reapply for the next admission cycle. To assist you in gaining successful entry into Bevill State Community College s nursing program, you may contact any nursing advisor or the Health Science college-wide secretary, Kathy McCullar as 205-387-0511 ext. 5877. We are pleased that you have chosen Bevill State Community College s nursing program to prepare you for a career in the nursing profession. Thank you for your interest! Sincerely, Reitha Cabaniss, EdD, MSN, CNE Nursing Director College wide

ALABAMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM NURSING CURRICULUM The nursing curriculum is a concept-based curriculum that reflects the stated mission and philosophy of the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Nursing Programs. To prepare graduates in the role of an associate degree nurse by first integrating the role of a practical nurse, the ACCS has developed a one plus one curriculum that provides students with the education for a practical nursing certificate at successful completion of the third semester; completion of NUR 112, 113, 114 and 115, followed by the incorporation of the competencies required for the associate degree nurse upon successful completion of the last two semesters; NUR 211 and NUR 221 respectively. The part-time evening (delayed progression) option will meet the need of our nontraditional students and provide an educational option for potential students who are unable to attend college during the day time hours. The part-time evening track is eight semesters with campus labs, clinical and classes offered in the evening hours and/or weekends. Courses have been carefully planned to provide the student with a continuity of learning experiences. The part-time evening option was designed for students to complete required academic classes during the first two semesters upon admission to the nursing program. When delivering direct patient care, students are supervised by faculty. In the campus nursing laboratory, simulation and instruction are directed through hands-on practice and facilitate by personal contact and by visual, computer-assisted, interactive and other multimedia stimuli. The faculty strives to produce graduates capable of self direction, who are willing to assume responsibility and accountability for their practice in the health care delivery system.
