Champagne Memorial Golf Tournament Mardi Gras in Southern Louisiana is a part of our everyday culture. It is always exciting to watch as the parades roll by. There is, however, another highlight to Mardi Gras on the Northshore. We anxiously anticipate parades that the Marching Wolves are in. They bring a vibrancy and enthusiasm to every song they play. They have a history of being recognized throughout the state for their exciting performances. We congratulate them on another successful year. May 15 & 16 Fishing Rodeo June 5th & 6th Reunion Weekend Celebrity Waiters Dinner March 19, 2009 THE MARCHING WOLVES PARTICIPATE IN SIX LOCAL MARDI GRAS PARADES Mardi Gras Long hours of preparation and practice go into each parade. The band marched 30 miles in two weekends while participating in Bacchus, Carrollton, and Endymion in New Orleans and Eve, Olympia and Orpheus on the Northshore.

PAGE 2 The Soccer Wolves Soccer season at Saint Paul s came to a close with an unbelievable finish in the state playoffs. The Soccer Wolves took the District Title and made it to the semi-final game in Shreveport against Captain Shreve. After a very exciting game, they unfortunately lost their race for the state title. National Merit Scholarship Finalists Saint Paul s seniors, Jeff Coote, son of David and Beryl Coote of Pearl River, and Graham Smart, son of William and Martha Smart of Covington, have been selected as National Merit Scholarship Finalists in the 2009 competition. POWERLIFTING TEAM The 2008-2009 powerlifting team won first place at the regional meet on January 31 in Houma, Louisiana. This team had five first place champions and the entire eleven member team qualified for the state meet in Alexandria on March 14. Chris Anzalone was recognized as the best lightweight lifter, and Chris Abide was recognized as the best heavyweight lifter.

SAINT PAUL S SCHOOL PAGE 4 Basketball Wolves The Saint Paul s Basketball team ended another year under the direction of Coaches Michael Toups and Michael Gowland 93. Another successful year as indicated in their 17-17 record including a win over Hammond, the district champion. There is more to life than increasing its speed Mohandas Gandhi Senior Basketball players Jeffrey Coote, Chris Gensler and Josh White say thank you to their parents David & Beryl Coote, Missy & Larry Gensler and Rebecca & James White, for their support and enthusiasm throughout the seasons.

John Kimbrough Jeaneen Schmitt is the moderator for the Saint Paul s Relay for Life event. The team will have several smoothie sales before the walkathon on March 28th at Fontainebleau High School. This group will accept gift basket donations to be auctioned off the night of the event to raise additional funds for finding a cure for cancer. Champagne, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament Friday, April 24, 2009 Tchefuncta Country Club Covington, LA This is the 14 th anniversary of the Joseph A. Champagne, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament. Prior to his death in 1989, Mr. Champagne was a big supporter of St. Paul s. He was the founder of Champagne Beverage ( Budweiser Distributor ) and had four sons graduate from St. Paul s ; Mickey, 62 (deceased); Larry, 65; Joel, 75 and Jon, 77. His grandson, Joel Champagne, Jr., graduated from Saint Paul s as well. Mr. Champagne s wife, Audrey (deceased) was a highly respected teacher at St. Paul s in the 1970 s. Joel is the owner of Champagne Beverage and Alumnus of the Year in 1999/2000. We anticipate that we will fill the spots with players (144) this year, so be sure to get your registration form in at your earliest convenience.
