Trainees will earn $9.15 per hour, and will work up to 20 hours per week. Who is Eligible to Apply? Lexington youth, 14 to 16 years old (as of April 30, 2018). Households receiving public assistance are priority factors. The Summer Youth Job Training Program provides paid workforce training opportunities for youth, ages 14-16, by teaming with Lexington s business & community-based partners. Why SYJTP is Valuable? SYJTP offers Lexington youth the opportunity to gain work experience, to develop interpersonal skills, to learn & explore vocational interests, all while earning income during the summer. What s New in 2018? A written reference and proof of free/reduced lunch or public assistance will be required by all applicants and should be turned in with the signed application. NO APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION! When does SYJTP Begin? The 2018 SYJTP will run for a full 6 weeks, beginning on June 11 and ending on July 20. Hiring announcements are expected by May 14. Service Points! Legal Services Finance & Insurance Real Estate Hospitality Where will Job Training Occur? Youth Worker Trainees will report to the operational management of local businesses, government agencies and community organizations. In 2017, over 60 distinct business units participated in SYJTP, and collectively hosted 114 training sites across the City of Lexington. Explorer Team! Logistics Health Care Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Who Coordinates SYJTP? Summer Youth Job Training Program is locally funded, and is administered by the LFUCG Division of Youth Services.
