Who Should Attend This program has been designed to be of interest to scientists, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, primary care physicians, neurologists, pain management physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical students, residents and fellows treating or researching pain. About the Symposium This conference will review the latest technology, science and treatment options anyone interested in treating or researching pain should be made aware of in order to offer the best care choices to their patients and background for their studies Learning Objectives At the conclusion of this conference, participants should: Become familiar with the ways in which pain has developed into a public health issue Identify areas needing improvement in cancer pain management Review the different mechanisms of pain and learn new ways to treat these clinically Become familiar with the use of opioids in pain management Discuss the direction and new technologies for the future of pain management Discuss intrathecal options for analgesia both new and old Review options for managing addiction Discuss updates on new treatments for pain Discuss ways to improve assessment of benefit in pain management Discuss how the pathophysiology of migraine Troubleshoot common pitfalls in pain management Facilitate interactions/collaboration between the basic and clinical science Accreditation Albany Medical College is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Albany Medical College designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
