OVERVIEW Kick Butts Day is a day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco at more than 1,000 events planned by independent organizers across the United States and around the world. March 21 st, 2018

TOBACCO-FREE KIDS Kick Butts Day is a project of the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, a leading force in the fight to reduce tobacco use & it s deadly toll in the United States and around the world. We work to save lives by advocating for public policies that prevent kids from smoking, help smokers quit and protect everyone from secondhand smoke.

GETTING STARTED Step 1: Plan It Step 2: Register It Step 3: Supercharge It

STEP 1: PLAN IT Use the Activities Database Get creative Push for policy Collaborate

STEP 2: REGISTER IT Register your event to be counted and receive technical assistance getting media in your community! Every 50 th event registered will receive a Tobacco-Free Kids prize pack!

WHY REGISTER? When you register, you Can apply for $150, $250 or $500 mini-grants Receive support from the Youth Advocacy Team Are eligible for giveaways Get support in pitching your event to the media Help us build momentum!

STEP 3: SUPERCHARGE IT Develop a fundraising/ sponsorship strategy Promote to the media Participate on social media Create powerful visuals Get your gear Apply for a minigrant

MINI-GRANTS Kick Butts Day will offer $150, $250, $500 mini-grants again in 2018 Apply for a mini-grant to support your Kick Butts Day event once you ve registered an event. Mini-grant applicants must be certified Taking Down Tobacco trainers

MINI-GRANTS We re looking for Youth-led events High attendance/large audience Advocacy events Media-friendly events Creativity Evidence of a well thought out plan * Financial need is considered

FAQ YES - you can get a mini grant if your event is on a day other than March 21 st. YES - you can use the funding for transportation, food, giveaways any programmatic expenses would be acceptable.

FAQ NO - you can t apply for multiple grants for multiple events. NO - you can t pay honoraria to staff/guests, salaries, or give donations with this funding. NO - you can t use the funding for overhead costs.

APPLICATION The application is all online You MUST have a registered event We require a W9 or a 501(c)(3) form for submissions Become a Trainer Certificate (Become a Trainer certificate can be found in your Achievements tab of your TakingDownTobacco.org account)

APPLICATION You can save the application and go back several times to do edits BUT you must press the submit button for your application to be considered All mini-grant recipients must complete a post event survey

DEADLINE Mini-grant applications are due January 11 th, 2018

OVERVIEW The Youth Advocates of the Year Awards honor top young leaders from across the country individuals who have fought hard to promote tobacco prevention legislation, expose tobacco marketing to kids and keep peers from using tobacco.

AWARDS (1) Youth Champion Award (Grade 12) - $5,000 scholarship (4) Individual Winners (Grades 9-12) - $2,500 scholarship (1) Group Winner (MS or HS) - $2,500 grant Applications due January 28 th, 2018

APPLICATION DETAILS Applications are completely online Applicants MUST be available on 5/24 for the YAYA Gala in Washington, D.C. Group and individual applications are separate forms Deadline: January 28 th
