Jump Start Guide Version 3.0 December 2017 December 2017 Version 3.0 Page 1 / 16

A. Introduction to Mydea Your employees have lots of ideas, your company is full of potential - so how can you get more innovative power out of all this? Mydea enables your employees to take an active part in shaping your company's future by empowering them to bring in their own ideas and pitch innovative projects. This innovation management solution represents a digital idea market place and involves the entire staff by means of crowdfunding and gamification mechanisms from generating and developing ideas up to deciding how to implement innovative projects. This promotes a high participation rate and employee motivation, thus contributing to a flourishing, long-lasting culture of innovation in your organization. B. Mydea Process The most important key in the innovation management process centers on the following question: Who determines and how to determine which ideas to implement? While this used to be an intransparent, long and often annoying procedure, involving ideally knowledgeable specialists and managers, now your company is empowered to decide. The Mydea innovation process focuses on crowd-based idea generation and selection. Based on certain business Challenges like How to ensure profitability of our company? or How to improve our product x? (step 1). Every Challenge is assigned to a different professionally responsible person called Challenge Manager like a product owner or a manger from the specific business area. The employees are asked to submit ideas solving these business issues. Entered ideas are initially public to each employee and can be rated, commented and supported (sponsored) with virtual money by any colleague (step 2). Every user receives virtual investment capital by joining the Mydea community and it is up to the employees to spend their money on valuable ideas and projects. December 2017 Version 3.0 Page 2 / 16

By supporting ideas the investors deem these ideas to have great potential and support further analysis. Once an idea reaches a certain financial target, it moves into the idea concept phase. In this stage the approach to analyze and implement the idea is conceptualized by a certain group of employees and the required budget for the first phase to implementation is determined (step 3). This might happen by a one-day design thinking workshop. The results of this stage will be evaluated by the Challenge Manager accountable for the Challenge and the Innovation Board Members group of management people (step 4). This group of managers will approve or reject the idea implementation proposals. In case of an approval the implementation budget has to be collected from the crowd. Thus a second crowdfunding phase follows where the employees are asked to spend their virtual money again (step 5). Successfully funded projects will be implemented and the company has to provide the real project budget (step 6). Investors of implemented projects will be rewarded with virtual money (depending on the amount they have spent) which can be exchanged for appropriate incentives defined by the company (step 7). Completed projects present their results in front of the innovation board and a crowd of fellow employees in a demo day (step 8). During this event, a decision can be made whether to continue or stop the innovation project. Note: The explained Mydea process is supported by the Mydea Add-in.
