St. Charles is never mentioned separately, but as part of Columbus Catholic Schools. Eighth grade information. Eighth grade boys will be spending a half day at St. Charles in the upcoming weeks. Students will sit in on regular classes and meet with school administrators, teachers, students, and some coaches. Guidance. In collaboration with Children s Hospital, St. Charles is introducing the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program to Freshmen and Sophomore students. There will be a Freshmen and Sophomore parent information meeting about SOS on Tuesday, January 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Guidance Office. Theater. The St. Charles Preparatory School Drama Department is proud to announce its winter production, The Odyssey by Mary Zimmerman. The Odyssey will be presented Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, February 22, 23, & 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Charles Campus Theatre. Adult tickets are $10 each, and student tickets are $5 each. Reservations may be placed by calling the St. Charles main office at 614/252-6714 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This dramatic adaptation of Homer s myth begins with a modern young woman who is struggling to understand Robert Fitzgerald s translation of The Odyssey. A classical muse appears, and the young woman becomes the goddess Athena a tireless advocate for Odysseus in his struggle to get home. With her trademark irreverent and witty twist on classic works, acclaimed playwright Mary Zimmerman brings to life the story of Odysseus s ten-year journey, depicting his encounters with characters such as Circe, the Cyclops, Poseidon, Calypso, the Sirens, and others. The St. Charles Drama Department presented the Central Ohio premiere of this award-winning epic in the fall of 2007. Spaghetti Dinner. Our 2018 Spaghetti Dinner is scheduled for Sunday, February 18 in the school s Robert C. Walter Student Commons. Dinner will be served from noon until 7:00 p.m. and all proceeds from the event will go towards supporting student financial aid. Nurse s office. The Ohio Department of Health added a meningitis vaccine requirement for all students entering their senior year of high school. Two doses of meningococcal MCV 4 vaccine must be administered prior to the start of school in the fall of 2018. If your son received the first dose on or after his 16th birthday, a second dose in not required. Please submit documentation that your son who will be a senior at St Charles for the academic year 2018-2019 received the vaccination, by July 1st, 2018. Contact the school nurse for any questions or concerns. More information is available at www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/mening/public/adolescentvaccine.html Thank you for encouraging your sons to take care of their health. Frequent handwashing, rest, and good nutrition help lessen infections and viruses. Daily showering and washing of gym clothes, towels and sports equipment decreases the incidence of skin irritations and infections. St Charles does routine cleaning of all classrooms and meeting areas. Hand sanitizer and wipes are available throughout the campus buildings. Our goal is to stay healthy and in school. The Annual Blood Drive will be Thursday, April 26th from 8:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the gym. All eligible students, parents, alumni, neighbors and friends of St Charles are encouraged to help us in this lifesaving project. Every freshman is required to submit a current physical by the start of the school year. Physicals are then required yearly only if participating in sports. When submitting your son s freshman physical, please include a copy of their current immunization record.

Mothers Club. The next meeting will be the Lenten Service Project Meeting on Tuesday, February 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Cavello Center.
